An evening of music, food, fun and unique surprises is being planned by Winnsboro Main Street, once again bringing the one-of-a-kind event to the area to benefit future projects of Winnsboro Main Street.

"Hot August Night," featuring the rhythm-and-blues sounds of the popular Vicksburg, MS-based band, "The Chill," will be held Saturday, August 21, from 7 until 10 p.m. at the old Post Office on 513 Prairie Street. "The Chill" has been one of the crowd-favorite bands for this event, having played in 2007 and 2008, and will return again this year by popular demand.

As always, this year's art auction promises some truly unique offerings. Main Street Manager Kay LaFrance-Knight explained, "We've given our artists free-rein this year, with their focus being on garden and outdoor items. For example, the tables will be decorated with some of their colorful flower pots that would be beautiful on any patio. We're looking forward to showcasing these unique items and having our community come out and show their support for the Main Street projects." Jimbo Stephens is also creating another one of his popular fountains for the art auction, which has proven to be one of the highlights of the evening.

LaFrance-Knight said, "As always, the area's stellar cooks will be preparing their specialties. The food alone makes it the best entertainment bargain around! So the evening promises to be a real treat – perfect ingredients for a wonderful, relaxing summer evening. Casual dress is definitely in order!"

Tickets are available from the Main Street Office (435-3781), for $30 per person. Save the date, Saturday, August 21, 7 – 10 pm, for a memorable evening featuring wonderful food, music and art.
