Carl Crain
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Carl Crain, 47, of Winnsboro, are incomplete at this time, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Crain died Monday July 19, 2010.

Cleophus Crockham
Funeral services for Cleophus Crockham, 79, of Winnsboro were held Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Truelight Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Burial followed at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Crockham died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home.
He is survived by his sisters Maggie Washington of Winnsboro, and Bernice C. Harris of Delhi; and a host of other relatives.
Pallbearers were John Crockham, Glendale Crockham, Andrew Richardson, DeWayne Pleasant, Shawn Crockham, and Ason Brunner.

Dianne Cox Davis
Funeral services for Dianne Cox Davis of Zwolle, La., were held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Many, La. Officiating were Rev. Jeff Robinson of Southside Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas, assisted by Rev. Brett Campbell pastor of First Baptist Church in Zwolle. Burial followed in the Spring Ridge Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, La.
Mrs. Davis was born on Nov. 25, 1946 in Pleasant Hill, La., to Larry Buford Cox and Viola McComic Bush Cox. She enter into rest on July 15, 2010 at the Grace Home in Shreveport.
She was preceded in death by her parents Larry and Viola Cox.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Otis Stanley Davis of Zwolle; a son Bryan Davis and wife Malissa of Huntington, Texas; two daughters Alycia Evans and husband Edgar of Leesville, La., and Melissa Robinson and husband Jeff of Lufkin, Texas; sister Regina Rivers of Zwolle; brother Wayne Cox of Joaquin, Texas; and eight grandchildren: Lewis Evans, Corrinn Robinson, Christa Robinson, Dianna Evans, Davis Robinson, Rebecca Evans, Mallory McCoy and Marshall Mann.
Honoring her as pallbearers were John Derrick, David Vines, Dustin Remedies, Glenn Perry, Josh Lewis and Lonnie Leggett.
"A very loving mother and grandmother."

James M. Griffith
Funeral services for James M. Griffith, 83, of Winnsboro, were held at Shady Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, July 17, 2010, with Rev. Don Blackmon officiating. Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Griffith was born October 21, 1926 in Hattiesburg, Miss., and passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was a resident of Jigger, a dairy farmer, retired from a production rig in the oil field, and worked at a cotton gin. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ola V. (Mercer) Griffith; father, James Walter Griffith; mother, Leavy (Lisonbee) Griffith; brother, Spencer "Slim" Griffith.
Survivors include his son, Michael Griffith and wife Marcy of Winnsboro; four daughters: Darlene and Michael Miller of Baskin, Lorraine Jinks and husband Ronnie of Fort Necessity, Alice Guthrie and husband David of Gilbert, Barbara Cureington and husband Roy of Wisner; brother, William "Dub" Griffith and wife Pat of McComb, Miss.; four sisters: Elsie Taylor of Rayville, Frances Hoffman of Tallulah, Elizabeth Gallagher of Winnsboro, and Carrie Cassels of Hebert;15 grandchildren: Billy Talbert, Steven Talbert, Alton Guthrie, Caleb Robinson, Brad Robinson, Daniel Jinks, Johnathan Robinson, Shawn Griffith, Zach Miller, Annis Crain, Crystal Dobson, Danielle Benson, Emily Guthrie, Lynndsey Griffith, and Kimberly Griffith and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Talbert, Steven Talbert, Alton Guthrie, Caleb Robinson, Brad Robinson, and Daniel Jinks
Honorary pallbearers were Johnathan Robinson, Shawn Griffith, Scooter Lee Crain, Devin Crain, and Zach Miller.

Daisy Stinson Martin
Funeral services for Daisy Stinson Martin, 73, of Bastrop, were held at Apostolic Christian Church on Thursday, July 15, 2010, with Rev. Kevin Sanders and Rev. Gene Brown officiating. Burial followed at Legion Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Martin was born April 9, 1937 in Gilbert, and passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a resident of Bastrop, a retired bookkeeper for the Morehouse Parish School Board, and a member of the Victory Tabernacle Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Stinson, mother, Mamie (Womack) Stinson; husband, John A. Martin; son, Zack Michael Martin; brother, Nolan Stinson; sister, Vivian Carraway.
Survivors include her daughter, Traci Martin of Bastrop; sons: Billy Martin and wife Kathy of Gilbert, Johnny Martin and wife Nancy of Monticello, La.; sister, Ophelia Hill of Gilbert; five grandchildren: John Wesley Martin of West Monroe; Kayla Raquel McMurray and husband Evan of Gilbert; Megan M'Lynne Cook of Bastrop; Martin Andrew Cook of Bastrop; and Kyle Zachary Martin of Gilbert; great-grandchildren: Samantha Gabriel Martin of Wisner; Rachel Marie Martin of Wisner; John Ethan Martin of Wisner; and John Colton McMurray of Gilbert; and a host of family, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
Pallbearers were Kyle Zachary Martin, John Wesley Martin, Martin Andrew Cook, Chad Evan McMurray, John Thomas Eubanks, Clarence "Skipper" Stinson.

Elaine Davis Lord
Funeral services for Mrs. Elaine Davis Lord, 73, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Prentis Gandy and Buford Brady officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home Winnsboro.
Mrs. Lord was born on May 29, 1937 in Monticello, Miss., and went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center Winnsboro.
Mrs. Lord was a homemaker, a resident of Baskin and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by a granddaughter Melany Hensley Pool; and her parents O. H. and Edna Davis; a brother Thomas Carroll Davis.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Joe Neal Lord; children Ricci Neal Lord and wife Kathy, Debbie Lord Hensley and husband Lynn, David Lord and wife Pam, Sherrie Elaine Lord, Lisa Lord Rockett and husband Landon; sister Annette Kindem; brothers Nelson Davis and Tommy Joe Davis; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Williamson, Jason Lord, Kit Bryan, Eric Watson, Justin Lord and Landon Rockett.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Hensley, Hank Knox, Zachary Rockett and Clayton Rockett.
Memorial may be made to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund.

James S. Nugent
Funeral services for Mr. James S. Nugent, 87, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at First United Methodist Church Winnsboro with the Rev. Johnny Hankins and Bro. Karl Huff officiating. Burial followed at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home.
Mr. Nugent was born on February 20, 1923 to the union of William "Bill" and Nancy Simon Nugent in Fort Necessity. He died on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at his residence in Winnsboro after an extended illness.
Mr. Nugent was a retired Mechanical Contractor, a member of the First United Methodist Church, NECA Organization, Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union, Franklin Parish VFW, former member of the Winnsboro Rotary Club and Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber. He was a founding father of the Franklin Academy Winnsboro and a founder the the Veterans Flag Program for Franklin Parish.
Mr. Nugent served in the United States Army during WWII and Korea as 1st LT. He also received two Purple Hearts, two Silver Stars, one Bronze Star and served as past Commander of the Franklin Parish VFW.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother M. C. "Buddy" Nugent.
He is survived by his wife of 56 and a half years Sue Nugent of Winnsboro; sons James "Jim" Nugent and wife Shirley of Brush Prairie, WA; John Nugent and wife Elicia of West Monroe; daughter Janet Morvant and husband Stephen of West Monroe; grandchildren Kimberly Nugent and husband Kevin Womack, Angela, Rachel, Jonathan, Ellen Nugent, Emily Ezell, Billy, Dustin and Dillion Morvant.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Ryan Hicks and Kevin Womack.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the First United Methodist Men's Sunday School Class and Arthur Harrell.

William Ponkouski
William Ponkouski of Winnsboro, (known by his family as Bumpa) was born on April 3, 1914 in Beloit, Wisconsin and passed from this life on July 15, 2010. Mr. Ponkouski passed away at the age of 96 and was able to remain at his residence along with his loving wife, Goldie Ponkouski. Mr. and Mrs. Ponkouski were married for 73 years. Arrangements were prepared by Young's Funeral Home. The family held a memorial at his residence.
Mr. Ponkouski retired as a manager from a garment factory in Rockford, Illinois and was of the Catholic faith. He was a very devoted husband to his loving wife and his family of which included five generations. To his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren he was a solid foundation and role model that will follow them through their lives.
Mr. Ponkouski was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie Ponkouski; two sisters: Marcie Colesom and Mariam Panke; two daughters: Patricia Rushing and husband Robert of Winnsboro; Judy Manning and husband Pat of Virginia; eight grandchildren: Kim Erskin and husband James of Winnsboro; Chuck Manning and wife Michelle of Texas; Jeff Manning and wife Loretta of Virginia; Kristie Emfinger and husband Mike of Winnsboro; Randal Rushing of Winnsboro; Patrick Manning Jr. and wife Betsy of Virginia; Robbie Rushing and wife Robin of Oklahoma; and Kyle Manning of Virginia; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Hazel Thompson
Funeral services for Hazel Thompson, 66, of Flint, Mich., were held Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Magnolia Baptist Church in Newellton. Burial followed at the church cemetery, under the direction Richardson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thompson died Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Flint, Mich.
Survivors include her husband, Lethaniel Thompson, Flint; sons: Jerome Thompson, Mohammad, Larry Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Stanley Thompson and Parnell Brown; daughter: Constance Coleman; mother, Adline Bass, Newellton; brothers: Donnie Bass, Richard Bass and Michael Bass; sisters: Danise Holcomb and Shirley Watson; eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Bass, Marke Bass, Richard Hines, Freddie Bass, Alvin Bass, Richard Bass and Kenneth Bass.

Elizabeth A. Turne
Funeral services for Elizabeth A. Turner, 53, of Newellton were held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Richardson Funeral Home in Newellton. Burial followed at Moss Grove Cemetery in Newellton.
Ms. Turner died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at his home.
Survivors include son, Kenyatta Turner, Chicago; daughter, Helenna Annani-Akeller, Chicago; brothers: Silos Turner, Las Vegas, Ronnie Turner, Phoenix; sisters: Molly Turner, Las Vegas; Anita Faye Johnson, Sacramento, Calif.; host of cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Chris Burton, Edward Blackmon, Allen Burton and John Jackson.
