posted 6/15/10 William "Bill" Walter Bearden Funeral services for William "Bill" Walter Bearden, 84, of Crowville, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, with Rev. Marion Spence, and Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. Burial followed at Crowville Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Bearden was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Hammond, La., and passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. He was a retired gin manager from Donnell Gin #2, an avid fisherman who loved to tell tales of the fish that got away, a member of Lamar Baptist Church, and a veteran of the US Navy who served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents: W.E. and Rosie Bearden; daughter, Faye Greer Gardner; and sister, Emma Keyes. Survivors include his wife, Helen Bearden of Crowville; children: Linda Cupit and husband James, Sue Renfrow, Ralph Greer and wife Jannie, Virginia Eldridge, Betty Greer, Kevin Greer and wife Jinger, all of Crowville, Ricky Bearden of Bastrop; grandchildren: Shanon and Shane Burge, Tamma and Carey Armstrong, Karen Cupit, Trey Eldridge, Becky and Scott Parker, Billy and Audra Brown, Michelle and Sean Williams, Chris and Amber Greer, Honny Eldridge, Nick and Summer Greer, Jennifer and James Giles, Andy and Donna Eldridge, Micheal and Brandy Gardner, Jessica and Kris Robinson, Heather Greer, and John Kevin Greer Jr.; sister, Dorothy Burris of Arkansas; 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Karen Renee Butcher Memorial services for Karen Renee Butcher, 45, of Winnsboro were held Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. John Baptist Church. Services were under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home. Ms. Butcher was born on Nov. 19, 1964 and died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Franklin Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Williams and Everlyn Butcher; two brothers, Donald Ray Butcher and Jesse James Jones; and one sister, M ary Butcher Ignot. Survivors include her life partner, Richard Bell; sons: Sambriel, Tirayoues, and Tron Butcher; brothers: Rev. Edward Williams Sr. and Henry Williams; sisters: Bernice Hardman, Deborah A. Gladys Garvan Cox Funeral services for Gladys Garvan Cox, 88, of Baskin, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, 2010, with Rev. Cecil Gregory officiating. Mrs. Cox was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Raleigh, Miss., and passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. She was a resident of Baskin, a homemaker, and a member of the New Light Baptist Church. She was known for her love and service. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. W. "Bill" Cox; father, Olyer Garvan; mother, Dona (Hough) Garvan; son, William Ray "Buddy" Cox; three brothers: Oscar "Joe" Garvan, Arthur Ray Garvan, Ather Daniel Garvan; son-in-law, Wayne Morrison. Survivors include three daughters: Alice Wallace and husband Harold of Bastrop, Faye Morrison of Baskin, Alma "Petie" Lachney and husband Wesley of Gilbert; sister. Dorothy F. Murphy Services for Dorothy F. Murphy, 71, of Gilbert were held Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro with Bobby Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the South Central Cemetery, Wisner, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. She was a retired CNA. She was born in Belulah, Miss., May 4, 1939. She moved to Gilbert in 1968 where she lived till she moved to New Iberia three years ago. She is preceded in death by her parents, E. C. and Mary Ruth Breedlove Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Rena Bonin and husband O'Niel Bonin Jr. of New Iberia, La.; a son, Francis T. Saucier and wife Hope Saucier of Gilbert; three sisters: Annie Muriel Neathery, Linda Sue Roach, and Frances E. Burial followed at Harris Cemetery near Crowville. Mr. Day was born on November 20, 1924 in Delhi, and died on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Charlyn Nursing Center Winnsboro after an extended illness. He was a retired farm manager and custom harverster, served with the United Stated Armed Forces during WWII and was in Patten's 3rd Army. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Edward and Clara Olivia Wiggins Day; and a sister Maxine Day; and a brother Francis Day.
