Winnsboro man dies after racetrack crash A Winnsboro man was killed Saturday while racing at the Monroe Motor Speedway.
Donald Wayne Goodman, 42, reportedly crashed his MMS Late Model Driver into a race track wall in front of crowd at the speedway in Monroe while trying to overtake other drivers.
Once emergency responders extricated him from the vehicle, he was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center.
He died at the hospital at 11:25 a.m. Sunday, according to the Ouachita Parish Corners Office.
Goodman was a local crop duster and owner of Goodman Flying Services in Crowville and Gilbert.
A message posted Tuesday on the Web site of the Monroe Motor Speedway read: "Donald Wayne always said that kids held a very special place in his heart! He loved to watch the Bandos race and supported them one hundred percent. He always said 'Racing Keeps Kids out of Trouble!' On behalf of The Monroe Motor Speedway Family our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the friends of Donald Wayne."
The Coroner's Office reports Goodman's body was taken to Little Rock, Ark. for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. |
