Story Archives: La. Patriots scheduled to host Gulfcoast Outlaws

La. Patriots scheduled to host Gulfcoast Outlaws

The Louisiana Patriots (6-1) plan to host the Gulfcoast Outlaws from Lake Jackson, Texas this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Patriot Stadium in Winnsboro. The Patriots have been on a two week layoff because of circumstances out of their control. Two weeks ago, the Patriots had their game at the Spring Heat cancelled when the Heat folded in the middle of the season.

This past weekend, Lake Charles called the Patriots and said their bus company was refusing to come to north Louisiana because of the threat of heavy rains in Franklin Parish.

"That was a lie," Patriot General Manager Frank Kitchen said. "We spoke to the league and they determined to reschedule the game."

Lake Charles will be coming to Winnsboro on May 22 to make-up the contest.

The Patriots have had two weeks without a game and will have to work extra hard this week to improve their game.

"We are kind of rusty now because of this two week layoff," Kitchen said. "And we have to be ready for the game this Saturday."

The Outlaws pushed the Patriots hard in week four but the Patriots prevailed, 14-12.
"The Outlaws have been our toughest opponents so far this year," Kitchen said. "But the offense did not click well in the third quarter and the defense held its own for us to get the win down there."

The Patriots will be attempting to balance out their offensive attack and get their passing game going strong this week against the Outlaws.

The Outlaws secondary has been quite vunerable this season and the Patriots had some of the best passing game success in that week four contest.

Compton Cotton got a 45-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Mitch Cooper in the second half of the first meeting. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday in Winnsboro.
