La. Patriots back home Saturday night
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Louisiana Patriots will be back in action on Saturday at 7 p.m. when they host the Lake Charles Panthers at Patriot Stadium in Winnsboro. The Patriots got an unexpected week off to rest and regroup this past weekend when their road game against the Spring Heat was canceled following the folding of the Houston-area squad. The Patriots beat Spring 46-0 in a previous meeting in Winnsboro.

League teams begin to forfeit games this time of year, and the forfiet gave the Patriots time to get back to the drawing board and improve their own schemes.

"We started working on some new things this past week," Louisiana Patriot full back LaJerrick Taylor said. "We are trying to diversify our offense this week and concentrate on being more balanced and score more points."The Patriots have been one of the league's most dominating rushing attacks this season. Taylor has combined with running backs Tony Shaw, Jamaal Grant, and Bobby Rose to create the league's most accomplished stable of rushers on a single team this season. Quarterback Jonathan Collins is improving each week and the Patriots will now be focusing on getting him consistently making plays through the air to keep opposing defense off balance.

The last meeting between these two teams found the Patriots being better in every phase of the game in relation to the Lake Charles squad. The Patriots won the game 26-0 as the Patriot defense continues to be the most dominant force in league play this year. A victory over the Panthers would position the Patriots right where they intend to be by the summer: holding a second-consecutive league championship trophy.
