Alana Stevenson recently won first place in the chemistry division during the annual science fair at Brame Middle School in Alexanderia. Alana is a seventh grader in the gifted program at Brame.
Along with her first place award, she was also named the overall winner of the science fair. She then went on to win first place in chemistry at the Region IV State Science Fair held at LSUA on March 13.

As the Region IV winner, Alana participated in the 2010 Louisiana State Science Fair held at LSU in Baton Rouge March 29. At the state level, she also won first place in chemistry for the junior division. Out of the 200 plus participants at the LA State Science Fair, Alana was one of only five students chosen to receive a Naval Medal for her project.

Alana's other activities at Brame Middle School include Beta Club, 4-H Club (treasurer), District II Honor Choir, cheerleading team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Alana is the daughter of Michael Stevenson and Jolondra Arthur-Stevenson. Her maternal grandparents are the late Joe Arthur and Katherine Arthu, of Winnsboro. Her paternal grandparents are the late Mable Caldwell Stevenson and Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Stevenson Sr, of Monroe.
