Gators conclude regular season, Spartans next The Delhi Charter Gators will conclude their 2010 regular season this weekend when they host the Caldwell Parish Spartans on Friday night at 6 p.m. And visit the Sterlington Panthers on Saturday at noon. Delhi Charter School has lost four of their last seven contests and three straight games to district foe Cedar Creek this past weekend. The Gators have been up and down offensively in their last district series. The Gators were outscored 28-4 in the district series against Cedar Creek. In their previous district series, DCS scored 34 runs in a district series against Delhi while surrendering just 10 runs in three games.
The Spartans have been one of the hottest teams in Class 3A as they have won eight games in a row including scoring 11 or more runs in seven of those contests.
The district 2-3A champions, the Spartans will be a great test for the Gators leading into the Class 1A playoffs. The Gators are projected to be a top 10 seed in next weeks Class 1A playoff bracket and will certainly host a first-round contest. The Gators benefited from having one of the best schedules in the area with non-district gamers against the likes of Caldwell and Class 4A playoff contender Franklin Parish, who the Gators beat to begin the year. Also, Cedar Creek, Ouachita Christian School and Oak Grove have consistently been ranked among the top 10 teams in the state of Louisiana throughout the year and have been stellar district 2-1A opponents for the Gators. |
