FA Cougars complete season
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Franklin Academy ended its season at 16-10 as the Cougars lost out in a three-way tiebreaker for second place as Claiborne Academy and district champ Riverdale will represent MAIS District 7A.

Franklin lost to Claiborne 6-1 last Tuesday, but still had a chance to make the playoffs if Union Christian beat Claiborne last week.

Union Christian led that game 12-5 in the fifth inning, but Claiborne tied it up and sent it into extra innings before winning.

"We went from the lowest low, to the highest high to the lowest low," said Franklin coach Chris Sullivan. "But we didn't take care of our business, so we didn't deserve it. We didn't hit the ball against Claiborne and we left people on base."

Franklin finished 6-4 in district play.

"It was still a good season and we had some good things happen," Sullivan said.

Riverdale will face Tensas in the first round of the South A State playoffs, while Claiborne meets District 6A champion Trinity.
