Story Archives: La. Patriots rank 6-1

La. Patriots rank 6-1
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Louisiana Patriots (6-1) are scheduled to be back in action at 7 p.m. Saturday night when they head to the Lone Star state against the Spring Heat. The Patriots are undefeated in the state of Texas during the 2010 season after beating the Houston Cardinals by a score of 18-0 last weekend. Jamaal Grant scored the first score of the night with a touchdown run.

Tony Shaw, a former FPHS star running back, scored on a 30-yard touchdown run followed by Bobby Rose finishing the scoring with a touchdown scamper in the second half. The Patriots were unsuccessful on their point after attempts, a point that will likely be something the team will work hard on in the future. One thing the team is not concerned about at practice is the defensive effort.

The Patriot defense has been a stone wall in which much of the league has had little success against since the Houston team was able to beat the Patriots 13-7 in the first week. Since that fateful first contest, the Patriots have reeled off six consecutive victories. The second game of the season saw the Patriots down the Spring Heat in a great contest in front of the exited local contingent at Patriot Stadium. The team looks well on their way to a second consecutive league championship.
