Winnsboro man arrested in Internet sex sting

A 59 year-old Winnsboro man is facing criminal charges for allegedly trying to solicit a teenager on the Internet.

Jerry O. Boyd, 138 Boyd Road, was arrested Monday in an Internet sting after he allegedly made online advances toward a person he thought was a minor, according to the Louisiana Attorney General's Office.

Boyd was actually chatting with an investigator.

The sting was a joint effort of the Attorney General's High Technology Crime Unit and the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say Boyd was arrested at his home subsequent to a search warrant executed by agents from the Attorney General's Office.

He was booked into the Franklin Parish Prison as a fugitive from justice, then transported and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison without incident.

Boyd is charged with violating Louisiana statues against Indecent Behavior with Juveniles and Computer Aided Solicitation of a Minor.
