Lady Patriots meet Lady Tigers Thursday The Franklin Parish Lady Patriots (11-9, 1-3 district 3-4A) will be back in action Thursday night at 6 p.m. when they head to Monroe to battle the Neville Lady Tigers (13-10-2).
The Lady Patriots have won seven consecutive games going into the district tilt at the Neville High School softball complex.
Franklin Parish softball is enjoying a great start to the season thanks to solid team defense and timely hitting across the board.
Kortnie Kelly, Kristin Newman and Katie Johnston have been on top of things offensively as of late for the Lady Patriots.
Johnston has also been as solid as a rock on the mound for Franklin Parish team this week. Last Tuesday evening, the Lady Patriots picked up their first district win of the season with a 4-2 win over the Ruston Lady Bearcats.
Franklin Parish has tangled with the Neville Lady Tigers once this season with little success. Neville downed the Lady Patriots 3-0 during a March 16 district tilt in Winnsboro.
The offensive production of the Lady Patriots has tripled since that day and FPHS has averaged 3.4 runs per game over the last five contests.
Neville pounded the Wossman Lady Wildcats in district 3-4A competition last week. Neville swept a double-header from Wossman with a pair of 15-0 victories. Ruston then downed Neville 9-0 two days later as the Neville offense went ice cold. Next Tuesday, the Lady Patriots will host the West Ouachita Lady Chiefs in a crucial district contest for both teams. |
