Louisiana Patriots kick off season March 6 The Louisiana Patriots semi-pro football team will begin their regular season with a home game March 6 against the Panthers of Lake Charles. The game will be held at 7 p.m. in the Patriot Stadium at Franklin Parish High School.
The Louisiana Patriots are scheduled to host five home games during the regular season at the Patriot Stadium in Winnsboro and play five away games with other teams in the league.
The season will end with two playoff rounds beginning May 29 and June 12. The winner of the playoff series will go on to compete in the championship game on June 26.
Team owner Vernon Mills relocated the team from Alexandria to Winnsboro due to the number of players from the area.
The program currently operates as a non-profit organization, which generates capital through fundraisers.
The team organized in 2008 and after one season, Mills' Cenla Patriots won their conference playoffs and league championship, defeating two nationally ranked semi-pro teams.
The 2010 schedule includes the following games: March 6—LC Panthers, Home March 13—Houston Cardinals, Home March 20—Spring Heat, Away March 27—3rd Coast Hard Hittaz, Home April 3—Bye week April 10—Louisiana Freedom, Away April 17—LC Panthers, Away April 24—Houston Cardinals, Away May 1—Spring Heat, Home May 8—3rd Coast Hard Hittaz, Away May 15—Louisiana Freedom, Home May 22—Make up games May 29—Playoff round I, TBA June 12—Playoff round II,TBA June 26—Championship, TBA |
