Mangham Dragons 2-1 in tourney Mangham High went 2-1 at its own tournament this past weekend.
The Dragons defeated Delhi Charter 17-5 as Todd Duschene picked up the win.
Jacob Mooney led the Dragon offense with four hits.
Alex Smart had a grand slam and single. Spencer Nobles and Duschene had two hits each, while Josh Duncan added a 3-run home run.
"We hit the ball extremely well," said Mangham coach Scott Wilcher.
Mangham fell to Caldwell 4-1 as Jarred Dye picked up the loss, despite striking out 10 and allowing only four hits.
Nobles and Mooney had two hits each.
Mangham defeated Franklin Parish 5-2 in its final game.
"We got some games in and we're getting better," Wilcher said. "We're young, but I saw a lot of promising things."
Mangham's game with Oak Grove Monday was moved to Wednesday at Mangham.
Mangham will also be one of the hosts for the 2010 Bayou State Prep Classic.
Mangham will face Calvary on Thursday at 6 p.m.
On Friday, Riverside will face Sacred Heart at Mangham at 3 p.m., followed by Mangham against Eunice and University against Loyola.
On Saturday, beginning at 9:30 p.m., Dunham faces Choudrant. Mangham takes on Oak Grove at noon. St. Charles meets Vermilion Catholic, followed by Claiborne Christian against Episcopal.
At 7:30 p.m., Mangham meets Holy Cross.
On Sunday, at 11 a.m., John Curtis faces North Vermilion.
Other tournament games will be played at Ouachita Christian, St. Frederick, Cedar Creek and Sterlington. |
