Story Archives: Patriots fall to Gators in season opener

Patriots fall to Gators in season opener
by Cody Futrell - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Franklin Parish Patriots lost their baseball season opener at Delhi Charter Monday night 15-8 when the game was stopped because of darkness. The DCS Gator Stadium does not have lights and the game was stopped when the umpires deemed the field too dark to play in the top of the fifth inning.

It was a poor time to quit playing for the Patriots who had scored seven runs in the fourth inning and were beginning to make a late charge.

"There was a softball game going on right next to us and they were still playing," FPHS Lynn Middleton said. "The umpires stopped the game."

Tyler Dooley was the starting pitcher and took the loss for the Patriots.

FPHS will begin play in the Mangham tournament this Friday night and play through the weekend.
