Dixie F. Coleman
Funeral services for Dixie F. Coleman, 64, of Crossett, will be today (Wednesday) at North Crossett Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Crossroad Cemetery, under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
Mrs. Coleman died Sunday, February 14, 2010 at her residence in Crossett. She was a native of Wisner, and a resident of Crossett for most of her life.

Fay Buie Etheridge
Funeral service for Fay Buie Etheridge, 73, of Winnsboro were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 in Gilbert United Methodist Church with Rev. Frances Guy and Rev. Bill Foster officiating. Interment followed in Myrtle Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
He was born to J. B. and Margaret "Janie" Bradley Etheridge on Dec. 2, 1936 in Winnsboro and passed from this life Monday, February 8, 2010 at his home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Etheridge was a member of Gilbert United Methodist Church and was an U.S. Army veteran. While in the service, he received a letter of commendation in communication, and was the M 1 rifle instructor for his entire platoon. He held a private aviator license, was a farmer, truck driver, and heavy equipment operator. He married Betty Loflin on October 7, 1955 in Winnsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt Alice Walters; brothers: J. B. (Dago) Eheridge, H.B. "Pete" Etheridge Sr. and John Caleb Etheridge; sister-in-law Carolyn Etheridge; two grandchildren: Bradford Buie McKay and Megan Cobb; and nephew, J.B. "Buddy" Etheridge, III.
Mr. Etheridge is survived by his wife of 54 years Betty Loflin Etheridge of Winnsboro; three daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Allen Cobb of Winnsboro; Toni Jayne and Tom McKay of Valley Lee, Md.; and Suzie Lynn and Tryon Rosser of Brandon, Miss.; one brother, Russell Etheridge of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren: Jessica Leigh Beaube, Joshua Dixon, Aaron Buie Dixon, Chad McKay, Kevin McKay, Brandon Weekly, and Lauren Cobb; and one great -randson, Jordon T. Landry.
He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Juanita Etheridge, Francis Wallace, Melba Aston, Susan Mayeaux, Winona Shumaker Etheridge, Shirley Moak; brothers-in-law: Roy Aston and Jim Moak; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Pallbearers were Joshua Dixon, Brad Etheridge, Dale Etheridge, Jason Etheridge, Shay Etheridge, Chad McKay, and Brandon Weekly.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Bill Adams, R. V. Arnold, Nolan Cowart, Bobby Davis, Peachy Davis, Junior Gill, Ralph Gill, Chuck Holcomb, Lloyd Posey, Clarence Sikes, Jimmy Sullivan and Donald Woods.

Donald "Pete" Ezell
Donald Steve "Pete" Ezell, 67, a retired mail carrier of Gilbert, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, from 5-9 p.m. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Burial will be at Oakley Cemetery, under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home, Winnsboro.

WOODIE THOMPSON "TOMMY" FRANKLIN JR.
Tommy Franklin was a good man who loved his God, his family, and his country...and he worked tirelessly for all three. But in the morning hours of February 10, 2010, he was called home to his eternal reward in heaven to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Services in his memory were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Lamar Baptist Church, Delhi, with Reverends Scott Fletcher, Rayland Trisler, and Jason Lupo officiating. Burial followed at the Crowville Masonic Cemetery.
Tommy was born January 1, 1947 to Woodie and Helen Cobb Franklin. He grew up in the Crowville community and married his high school sweatheart, Jimmie Lynn Holloway Franklin in July, 1966. He joined the Army later that year and served in Vietnam. Upon his return home after an honorable discharge, he obtained his pilot's license and operated his own crop dusting service for 25 years. For the past several years, Tommy was part of a family farming operation that included his father-in-law, son, and son-in-law.
During his service to God, Tommy was one of the founding members of the Richland-Madison camp of the Gideons and continued to be active in that organization. He also took part in the Pool of Bethesda prison ministry, spreading the gospel to prisoners throughout the area through word and song.
Tommy is survived by his wife Jimmie Lynn; daughter, Shelly Crawford and husband Paul of Delhi; two sons, Steven Franklin and wife Angie of Delhi, and Jason Franklin and wife Jennifer of Monroe; a sister, Hazel Jean DeCoto and husband Huey of Ponchatoula; parents-in-law, J.W. and Margie Holloway of Delhi; brother-in-law, Jeff Holloway of Delhi; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was particulary proud of his five grandchildren: Anna and Randall Crawford, Emily and Katie Franklin, and Collier Franklin.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lannie Mack Franklin; nephew, Woodie Malcolm Franklin; and grandson, Caleb Glenn Franklin, who he now joins in heaven.
Pallbearers were Mike Curtis, Marty Hale, Dennis Ray Franklin, Darren Green, Bill Griffin, Johnny Junkin, Richard Skipper, and Gilbert Tonnang.
Honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Tate, Snookie Curtis, and Jim Pepper.

Gerald R. Jones
Services for Gerald R. Jones, 62, were held Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at New Zion Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Bosco, Jerry Goodman and Rodney Ratcliff officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home Winnsboro.
Mr. Jones was born on September 25, 1947 to the union of Lee Edward and Rene McCallister Jones in Winnsboro, Louisiana and died on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after an extended illness.
Mr. Jones served his country in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Army National Guard active and inactive duty for 21 years, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and worked 33 years as shop supervisor with the Louisiana DOTD. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and a resident of Baskin.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daugher, Victoria Jones; brother, Lee Edward Jones Jr.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law John A. and Vicky Smith.
He is survived by his wife Sue Smith Jones of Baskin; his son, Nathaniel "Nate" Jones of Baskin and girlfriend Tasha Tidwell; a sister, Glenda Cowart of Baskin; a brother, Mike Jones and wife Pam of Baskin; brother-in-law, Glen Ray Smith and wife Lynn of Winnsboro; sisters-in-law, Jenny Goodman and husband Jerry of Gilbert, Vickie Purvis and husband Walter of Gilbert. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by several little ones that called him "Papa Gerald".
Pallbearers were Nathaniel Jones, Glen Smith, Jason Camp, John Day Jr., Ben Purvis, Walter Purvis and John Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Phillips and Louisiana DOTO District 58.

Robert Herron Sr.
Mr. Robert Wilburn Herron Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 in Baton Rouge after an extended illness. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Herron was a businesss entrepreneur in the Baton Rouge area for the past 50 years, having created several businesses with is wife and business partner, including Nita's Furniture on Plank Road and Tiffany Estates Mobile Home Park on Greenwell Springs Road. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers Local 406 and a Freemason.
Mr. Herron was born to James Matthew and Gettys Herron in Jena, La., on Oct. 19, 1932. He was raised in Wisner, Louisiana.
Mr. Herron is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Juanita Herron; one son, Robert Wilburn Herron Jr. and his wife, Diane Elaine James Herron; one daughter, Celia Darnanne Herron; one grandson, Robert Wilburn Herron III and his wife Nickie Lee Adams Herron; one granddaughter, Tiffany Danielle Herron; one sister Margie Alice Byrnes and her husband, Vernon Byrnes; one sister-in-law, Mary Francis Pike Herron; also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother James Matthew Herron and Gettys Shipley Herron; two brothers, Willie Herron and James William Herron; and two sisters, Hazel King and Vadian King.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Herron Jr., officating. Burial followed at South Central Cemetery near Wisner.

Virginia Holmes
Services for Virginia Hudson Holmes, age 69, of Winnsboro, were held Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Winnsboro with Rev. Ernest Oliver and Rev. Ricky Smith officiating. Burial followed in Fort Necessity Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mrs. Holmes came into this world on Nov. 13, 1940 and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. She was a loving mother and friend. She was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and a woman that loved God. She was a lady that touched many lives.
Survivors include her son: Joey Hudson of Winnsboro; brother: Willie Hudson of Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers were Eddie Quimby, Phillip Hutto, Claude Hicks, Treddis Glass, Dave Hutto, Kenneth Powers, William Daniels, and Leo Guimbellot.

Wiley Douglas Kincaid
Wiley Douglas Kincaid, 69, passed into Heaven on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Bellville, Texas, after a long battle with esophageal cancer. He is survived by his wife Celia; his former wife Sandy; son Robert; daughter Susan; daughter-in-law Janet; and grandchildren: Marshall, Kate, Kendall and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother and father, Alta Mae and Herman, his brother Charles, and sister Nancy.
Doug was born Oct. 20, 1940 in Corpus Christi, and moved to Galena Park in 1943. He loved music and became an accomplished trumpet player at Galena Park High School, where he graduated in 1958. After a year at the University of Texas in Austin, he moved back to Galena Park, married his sweetheart from Austin, Sandy, and started his career in the wholesale plumbing industry in Houston with Plumbing Supply Company, where his father also worked. The family moved to the Woodforest area of North Shore in 1965, where the children grew up and Doug continued his successful career at Plumbing Supply. In the early 1970's, Doug earned the prestigious 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, qualifying him for work as a Shriner. He also found another enjoyment in life through football officiating, where he joined the Houston Chapter of the Southwest Football Officials Association in 1973, and worked his way up to the Division I level before retiring from officiating in 1998. Doug moved to the Tomball/North Houston area in 1980, and remarried in June 1988 to his loving wife Celia. Doug's lifelong dream to retire in the country was fulfilled when he and Celia moved to Bellville permanently in 2001. Some of his most enjoyable times were with the grandkids on the farm, helping in active service at First Baptist Church - Bellville, where he served in many capacities, including a Sunday School teacher and Church Treasurer, and directing all the traffic around his hay farm, Kincaid Farms.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Bellville with Rev. Steve Olsen, officiating. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Bellville, Texas.
Pallbearers were his son Robert (Bobby), his grandson Marshall, his daughter's fiancee' Steve Misthos, and his close friends Jerry Decker, Jerry Sisson and David Turnage. Honorary pallbearers were members of his "Apostles" Sunday school class at FBC - Bellville.

James Earl King
A graveside service was held Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at Lone Cherry Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home for James Earl King, 72, a retired Medic in the U. S. Navy and resident of Columbia.
He was survived by one son, Jimmy King; twp grandchildren; one brother, Larry King.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lillian King; one brother and one sister.

Willie Allen Mason
Mr. Willie Allen "Buddy" Mason Sr., 83, a retired employee of Wisner Minnow Hatchery, died February 9, 2010. His funeral service was held at Apostolic Faith Chapel in Gilbert on Feb. 10, 2010, and burial followed at Holly Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Mason was survived by his wife: Margie L. Mason; two sons: Edwin Dale Mason and Willie Allen Mason Jr.; four daughters: Joann Edwards, Christine Brown, Geneva Cupp, and Deana Kay Trahern.

Judy McDowell
Judy Theresa McDowell, 54, of Glasgow died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Metarie Parish, La., she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Louella Lebeau Whitlow and wife of the late Walter Daniel McDowell. Mrs. McDowell was of the Catholic Faith.
Mrs. McDowell is survived by a son Billy McDowell of Cave City; a daughter Dawn Theresa McDowell of Cave City; a step-daughter Elice Sanchez of Bogalusa, La.; a brother Rowdy Whitlow (Lori) of LaPlace, La.; three step-grandchildren: Aryna, Kalie and L. J. Sanchez.

Charles V. Parker
Funeral services for Elder Charles V. Parker, 83, of Wisner, were held at Apostolic Faith Chapel In Gilbert, on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, with Rev. Virgil Harris, Rev. Jerry Brady, Rev Hurby Hitt, Rev. Earnest Oliver, and Rev. Lance Parker officiating. Burial followed at Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Elder Charles Parker was born Jan. 8, 1927 in Newellton, the eldest of ten children. He passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at Crown Health Nursing Home in Natchez, Miss. Of the many occupations during his life, above all he was a minister of the Gospel, receiving his call to the ministry in 1960. As a young minister, he preached revivals in California and began his first pastorate at King's Pentecostal Church in Wisner, in 1965. Thru the years, he had five Pastorates and held many revivals across Northeast Louisiana. He loved people and was a demonstrator of his concern for souls. As a minister of the Apostolic Faith, he was a true warrior in the Lord's army. He was an army veteran of WWII, a member of the V.F.W. He was an employee of Knudson Creamery in Fresno, Calif.; Martin Bros. in Winnsboro; and retired as superintendant of Franklin Parish Police Jury.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Parker; father, Clark Washington Parker; mother, Julia Britten (Herring) Parker; brother, Bill Parker; sister, Judy Barnes; twin siblings: Marvin Ray Parker and Bettie Lou Parker.
Survivors include his son, Greg Parker and wife Cynthia of Johnson City, Tenn.; two daughters: Denise Roberts and husband Red of Wisner; Lisa Welch and husband Adam of Natchez, Miss.; brother, Bro. Ronnie Parker and wife Sally of Jasper, Miss.; brother-in-law, Charles Barnes of Vidalia; four sisters: Joyce Jones and Clara Parker, both of Jigger; Jenny Parker of Gulf Shores, Ala.; Charlotte Roberts and husband Raymond of Boca Raton, Fla.; six grandchildren: Lance Parker, Crystal Hitt, Britni Welch, Ryan Welch, Amanda Lewis, and Sara Welch; and seven great-granddaughters.
Pallbearers were David "Bubba" Jones, Riley Roberts, Rob Roberts, Darren Parker, Clark Parker, Jerry Barnes, Rex Russell, Scott Russell, and Eugene Barnes.
Special honorary pallbearers were Charles Barnes and Raymond Roberts.
Honorary ministers were Rev. Ray McMurray and Rev. Bobby Richie.

David Floyd Pylant Sr.
Funeral service for David Floyd Pylant Sr. were held Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham. Burial followed at Forest Crest Cemetery, Irondale. Brother Wayne Campbell officiated.
Mr. Pylant, age 91, of Hoover, Alabama and formerly of Inglenook, Alabama, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010. He was born in Crowville, Louisiana and moved in 1946 to the Birmingham, Alabama area, where he worked for 37 years as an x-ray technician at Carraway Hospital and later Radiology Associates.
Mr. Pylant served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1945. He was a deacon at Inglenook Baptist Church, and was an active participant in youth baseball in Inglenook.
Mr. Pylant was preceded in death by his wife, Grace V. Pylant. Survivors include two sons: David F. Pylant Jr. (Brenda) and Gary E. Pylant (Cory); four grandchildren: Brian A. Pylant, Jennifer D. Pylant, Anne Marie Pylant, and David F. Pylant III; one brother, Cecil E. Pylant and wife Barbara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rebecca Jones
Rebecca Gay Jones, 50, was born on June 19,1959, to Jerry D. and Faye "Sister Baby" Williams Jones of Mangham, Louisiana, and unexpectedly passed away February 9, 2010. At the time of her death she resided in Sicily Island.
She is preceded in death by her father, sister Rhonda Stothart and niece Jessica VanMatre Schatz.
Surviving family includes her beloved mother; brother, Charles Bobby and Debbie Jones, sister Stephanie and Barry VanMatre; nieces Shady VanMatre, Courtney and Kaitlyn Jones, Lindsey and Mike Wilson, and brand new great niece Mia Grace Wilson; nephews Rob and Will Stothart, and great nephews Ben Schatz and Roman Wilson; aunts Sylvia Jones, Jean Eaker, Elaine and Peachy Davis; and uncle Glen and JoAnn Williams. She will be dearly missed by her dog, Toby.
Rebecca will be remembered for her generous, caring, fun-loving and outgoing personality. ……Perhaps she is most noted for the years she owned and operated the Hwy 576 Jones Market restaurant in New Light where she "packed out" the restaurant with her many original culinary delights.

Helen Williams Robinson
Funeral services for Helen Williams Robinson, 83, of Winnsboro, will be held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home today (Wednesday), Feb. 17, 2010, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Doyle Adams officiating.
Burial will follow at Myrtle Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson was born June 14, 1926 in Winnsboro, and passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010 at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Winnsboro. She was a resident of Winnsboro, a retired secretary of Berwick High School, and a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Dale Robinson Sr., father, Johns Williams Sr.; mother, Katie Melissa (Mason) Williams; three brothers: Steve Williams, Ray Williams, and James "Jelly" Williams; three sisters: Louise Colbert, Hazel Hollister, and Annie Bell Williamson.
Survivors include two sons: Dale Robinson Jr. and wife, Connie of Biloxi, Miss.; Mike Robinson and wife Pat, of Plano, Texas; brother, John Williams Jr. and wife, Gwen of Winnsboro; sister-in-law, Grace Williams, Winnsboro; three grandchildren: Henry Dale Robinson IV and wife Amy of Biloxi, Miss.; Mary Robinson Hawkins, Plano, Texas; Anthony Robinson and wife Kristen, of Plano; and great-grandchild, Zoey Hawkins of Plano.
