Posted 1/19/10 Alpha Ann Gordy Armstrong Funeral services for Alpha Ann Gordy Armstrong, 73, of Winnsboro, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, with Rev. Don Blackmon officiating. Burial followed at Holly Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Armstrong was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Wisner, and passed away Friday. Jan. 15, 2010 at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. She was a resident of Winnsboro, a homemaker, and a member of the Norris Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, James Manly Gordy; mother, Lou Ella (Humble) Gordy; sister, Madge Francis. Survivors include two daughters: Pam Armstrong and Sharon Armstrong, both of Winnsboro; sister, Dixie Gaskin of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandchildren: Jonathan Armstrong, Patrick Valentine, Kimberly Valentine, all of Winnsboro, Christopher Valentine of Queensbury, NY; special son-in-law who was like a son to her, Greg Temple of Wisner. Frances McNease Hampton Graveside services for Frances McNease Hampton, 61, were held Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens, Monroe with Rev. Greg Clark officiating. Mrs. Hampton was born on March 26, 1948 in Monroe and died on Jan. 12, 2010 in Winnsboro after a brief illness. She was a homemaker, a resident of Winnsboro and a member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, H. D. Hampton, father, J. R. McNease; brother, Shelby McNease; and a nephew, Ronnie McNease. Survivors include her son Sidney Hampton and friend Emily Foster of Calhoun; mother, Minnie Lee McNease of Winnsboro; sisters: Betty McNease Reeves Bishop of Vicksburg, Miss., Joyce McNease Ferguson of Laural, Miss., Cathy McNease Haley of West Monroe; brother Enon McNease of Winnsboro; also a special family friend Carlo Mintello of Winnsboro; and a host of nieces and nephews. Journei C. Hollis Funeral services for Journei C. Hollis, one day old infant of Karlesha Marzell and Joshua Hollis of Winnsboro, were held Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Burial followed at Cuba Cemetery in Gilbert. Journei died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Survivors include her parents; grandparents Deandrae Marzell, Karlos Arthur; Arthur and Betty Harrell.
Lizzie Mathis Funeral services for Lizzie Mathis, 76, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Wisner, were held Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Wisner. Burial followed in the church cemetery, under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Miss Mathis died Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at Charleston Methodist Hospital in Dallas. Survivors include a daughter, Lucy Jones; sister, Rose Dillon; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.
Delphia Neal Funeral services for Delphia Neal, 67, of Wisner were held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at New Light Baptist Church. Burial followed at Hope Estate, under the direction of Richardson-Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Neal, a produce plant foreman, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.

Mrs. Phillips was born on Feb. 17, 1934 in Winnsboro and died on Jan. 14, 2010 at Richardson Medical Center Rayville. She was a resident of Baskin and a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents: Benjamin F. and Mary Isabel Coody Wyles; husband, Travis M. Phillips Sr.; son Travis M. Phillips Jr.; sisters: Olie Simons, Nola Simons, Elsie Robinson; and a brother, Bennie Wyles. He had been a resident of Fort Necessity, a commercial fisherman, and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Carlton) Punchard; father, George Punchard; mother, Mary (Powers) Punchard; two brothers: Johnny Punchard and Felton Punchard; sister, Ludie Punchard. Burial followed at New Winnsboro Cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born on Feb. 17, 1924 in Franklin Parish and died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 at Mary Anna Nursing Home Wisner. She was a resident of Wisner, a retired hairdresser and a member of the First United Methodist Church Wisner. She was preceded in death by her parents: J. M. "Jim" and Martha Jane Liles Parks; husband George Smith; sisters: Callie Browder, Ethel Thompson, Mary Francis "Pug" Alford; brothers: Baskin Parks, Ramage Parks and Nolan "Son" Parks. Nita Evans Sparacino Nita Evans Sparacino, a native of Winnsboro and a resident of Denham Springs, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at her residence in Denham Springs at the age of 63. Visitation will be at First United Pentecostal Church, Denham Springs on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will resume on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 11 a.m. until funeral services at 1p.m. conducted by Bro. Ray Johnson. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Denham Springs. She is survived by her husband, Ray Sparacino; daughter, Monica Sparacino Dugas; son and daughter-in-law, Bryan P.
