FA Cougars drop two

Franklin Academy's boys and girls dropped to 0-2 in MAIS District 7A with losses against Riverfield in Winnsboro Friday.

Both teams lost to Claiborne on January 5 in their district openers.

"We're just not playing fundamental basketball," said Franklin boys coach Tommy Kimbrough. "We're making too many turnovers and have too many mental mistakes."

The Lady Cougars fell to Claiborne 49-22 as Lindy Carroll scored nine points.

Franklin's girls lost to Riverfield 49-40 as Hannah Southerland netted 11 and Carroll added nine.

"We're not playing with any consistency," said Lady Cougar coach James Nicholson.

Franklin faces Union Christian Tuesday in Winnsboro before traveling to Tensas Academy Thursday.
