BCS dodged another bullet... The BCS dodged another bullet.
Sure, you still have Cincinnati, TCU and Boise State grumbling, but let's face it, Alabama versus Texas with both being unbeaten is your best matchup.
Now, if Colt McCoy's pass would have stayed in the air a second longer, Mack Brown would be leading the "How Not to Finish a Game Seminar" instead of Les Miles.
No, actually, the BCS would be blown up.
I would love to see the final rankings with Nebraska winning, but that ain't going to happen. We know Asteroid Allie has a chance of hitting the earth in 9999, but no one can tell us what would have happened if Texas would have lost.
And if someone does, Mike Slive will probably suspend and fine them.
Cincinnati would probably be playing Alabama, but then TCU and Boise State could be screaming even more.
For now, Nick Saban against Will Muschamp provides great drama.
Colt McCoy will finally get his just due.
And the SEC will once again show why there's no better conference.
LSU will be playing Penn State in the Capital One Bowl New Year's Day.
LSU has won five of its last six bowl games, with the one loss coming to Iowa on a miracle play in the 2005 Capital One Bowl.
Penn State's defense is fully healthy and will be a major test if LSU doesn't show a little imagination.
The Big Ten will be looking to make a major statement at LSU's expense. I'm looking forward to the Rose Bowl, just because Southern Cal is not in it. But Ohio State is.
For the Buckeyes, Terrelle Pryor will start his Heisman campaign for 2010. Ohio State has to win this game. If the Buckeyes lose, it'll be another long offseason for Jim Tressel.
The lock of bowl season has to be Florida over Cincinnati. There is no way Tim Tebow is going to go out losing, especially after laying a big egg in the SEC Championship Game. I wouldn't be surprised to see the SEC with the top two teams in the nation in the final standings.
Now if I could just find out how the rankings would have been... |
