Gators upset Gueydan, 34-20
Delhi Charter continued its role as giant-slayer as the No. 21 Gators upset No. 5 Gueydan 34-20 in a Class A second round contest Friday.
Delhi Charter, 7-5, plays at No. 4 Haynesville (10-2) Friday.
Randy Julian led an impressive Gator rushing attacking, gaining 188 yards on the round.
Delhi Charter finished the night with 303 total rushing yards.
There was only one completed pass in the contest, that a 19-yarder by Delhi Charter's Gabe Robinson.
Julian scored on a 9-yard run in the second quarter.Riccie Gray rushed nine times for 87 yards, scoring on a 38-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Hunter Simms scored three times, on runs of 1, 2 and 2 yards.
Gueydan rushed for 241 yards behind Davante Bourque, who scored once on 19 carries for 185 yards.
Other quarterfinal contests have Grambling (8-4) at St. John-Plaquemine (11-1). Oak Grove (10-2) at West St. John (8-4) and defending Class A state champion South Plaquemines (10-2) at Oberlin (11-1). |
