'Found on 15' set this weekend Main Street manager Kay LaFrance-Knight said she expects the 4th Annual Found on 15 to be bigger than ever, as individuals and organizations from around the region converge on the highway for the event.
LaFrance-Knight called Found on 15 a "giant sell-a-thon" that will stretch from one end of Franklin Parish to the other, from north of Winnsboro to south of Wisner.
In previous years, participants have included individuals, church groups and organizations. This year is no different.
"The only thing we ask, if possible, is get permission from the property owners before you set up," said LaFrance-Knight. "Also, we suggest cleaning up before the sale and definitely cleaning after it."
The event is held the first full weekend of November each year. This year, it will be held Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7.
Participants simply set up a point-of-sale operation, such as a tent or booth, anywhere along the highway where there is room.
The two-day, nearly 25-mile long yard sale draws churches, schools, retailers and individuals with items to sell.
The event began as a way to encourage road trips between Main Street communities in Louisiana. It is being discovered by yard sale shoppers as "the Wal-Mart of yard sales," according to LaFrance-Knight.
"I like to think of it as one huge sale from Big Creek in the north to Big Dan's in the south," said LaFrance-Knight.
