Story Archives: Big plays make difference

Big plays make difference
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Tensas used a 55-yard touchdown pass by Jon-Truman James on the first play of the second half and an 85-yard fumble return to defeat Franklin Academy 34-6 Friday at St. Joseph.

Franklin fell to 4-5 and needs Rebul Academy to beat Mt. Salus by 4-to-8 points to make the playoffs.

Tensas, which will advance to the playoffs for the second straight year, defeated Franklin 40-0 in their first meeting.

Franklin is in its first year of 8-man football.

"The kids played hard," said Franklin coach Doyle Hassell. "It was one of those things where when you are overmatched, you are overmatched. But it was only 12-6 at halftime and those two big plays took the air out of us."

Franklin Academy will host Park Place Christian Academy from Jackson, MISS. this Friday night.

Game time is set for 7 pm.
