Story Archives: Mangham falls to Farmerville

Mangham falls to Farmerville
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Mangham fell to 0-2 in District 2-2A as the Dragons fell to district favorite Farmerville 43-0 at Mangham on Friday.

The Farmers recorded 253 yards on the ground behind DePaul Elliott, Eric Loyd and Wesley Woods while recording 55 yards on 5-of-8 passes from Caleb Kelley.

"They are big, physical and they have a lot of depth," said Mangham coach Tommy Tharp.
"They have a lot of depth, so they don't have a lot of people going both ways."

Elliott had 18 carries for 157 yards and two scores and added a 2-point conversion run, and Loyd scored once on six carries for 29 yards.

Farmerville scored in the first quarter on a 30-yard pass from Kelley to Carl Pearson, and added 14 points on Elliott's runs in the second quarter.

Mangham visits Sterlington Friday.

"Sterlington throws the ball well," Tharp said. "They have had some tough losses where they had opportunities to win games but couldn't pull them out. One of us is going to get healed up pretty quick."
