Funeral services for Coy L. Winters, 87, of Winnsboro will be held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Michael Couch and Rev. Tommy Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Winters was born Feb. 14, 1922 in Franklin Parish, and passed away Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at his residence in Winnsboro. He was a farmer, a heavy equipment operator, and retired from the Franklin Parish Police Jury. He served in the Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his father Otto Winters; mother, Clara (Russell) Winters; and his first wife, Irene (Wiggins) Winters.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys (Wiggins) Winters, Winnsboro; two sons, Rick L. Winters and wife Chris of San Antonio, Texas; Coy Michael Winters, Winnsboro; three daughters, Marty Mathews and husband, John of Wisner; Carolyn Sue Evans and husband Carl, and Connie Winters, all of Winnsboro; brother, Newt Winters and wife Alice of Winnsboro; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dewayne Wiggins, Doyle Wiggins, Tony Wiggins, J.C. Winters, Harvey Guimbellot and Perry Parker.
Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Riley and Ray Thomas.
The family will receive friends at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p .m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
