Farmers Appreciation dinner set for Oct. 20 The Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual salute to our parish farmers on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the First Baptist Church family life center in Winnsboro.
The event will start at 6 p.m., and will feature Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture Mike Strain as the guest speaker.
Area farmers and their spouses are admitted free and a limited number of tickets are available to non-farmers for $10 each. Those interested in attending should contact the Chamber office as soon as possible.
"This much-anticipated event pays tribute to area farmers and their families and acknowledges their hard work and dedication in keeping Franklin's agriculture-based economy alive and well," said Chamber president Lindy Price. "The Chamber is proud to play a role in recognizing these people."
In addition to great food, door prizes, and fellowship, the first bale of cotton will be auctioned by Bubba Smith.
Franklin Parish Farm Bureau will once again serve as sponsor of the event.
Entergy, Franklin Cotton Warehouse, Franklin State Bank and Trust Company, Helena Farm Chemicals and Raley Brothers, will be co-sponsors this year.
Contributors for the first bale of cotton are Broadway & Hitt Cotton Company, Ellington Cotton Company, Farmers Cotton Company, Johnston Cotton Company, Louisiana Land Bank, Citizens Progressive Bank, First South Farm Credit, ACA; Franklin State Bank, Louisiana Land Bank, Progressive Bank, Winnsboro State Bank, and the Chamber of Commerce.
"The Chamber board of directors would like to thank the sponsors, contributors, and business partners for their contributions to this year's event," Price said. For more information, contact the Chamber office at 435-4488. |
