Whitney Brooke Roark and Richard Eugene Nelson were united in marriage during an evening ceremony on August 8, 2009, at Eva Church of God. Minister Kevin Sims officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dee Dee and Randy Cooper of Monterey and Nikki and Steve Roark of Crowville. The groom is the son of Stacy and William Nelson Jr. of Waterproof.

Black candelabras with white candles were placed throughout the sanctuary of the church. Arrangements of white calla lilies and Boston ferns highlighted the altar area. A memory table held candles in honor of the bride's late grandfathers.

Musician Rhonda Wilson provided the nuptial music including selections, "Who I Am," "I Could Not Ask for More," and "I Can See You Loving Me."

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white strapless A-line gown embellished with scattered seed pearls. The fitted bodice flowed into a skirt of ruffled tulle organza. Seed pearls highlighted the edge of her finger-tip veil. Her bouquet was an arrangement of creamy white calla lilies gathered with a pearl closure. The bride also carried her great grandmother's handkerchief with her bouquet.

Tabi Howard of St. Joseph attended the bride as her maid of honor. She wore a formal black jersey dress designed by Vera Wang. The dress featured a one-shoulder neckline with a cascading front. She carried a bouquet of yellow, peach and lavender calla lilies.

Bridesmaids were Lyndsay Hendrix of St. Joseph, Kristen Wheeler, Chelsea Crum, and Blythe Millican of Monterey, Jennifer Goulart of Ruston, Lauren Romero of Winnsboro and Haley Nelson of Ferriday. Each attendant wore a dress and carried a bouquet like that of the maid of honor.

Miracle Nelson of Monterey, sister of the groom, served the bridal party as flower girl. She wore a street-length dress of white taffeta with a ruffled skirt like that of the bride. The dress was accented with a sash and a black floral broach.

Billy Nelson of Waterproof, served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Ivan Hedrick of Vidalia, Ray Goodwin of Clayton, Trey Keith of Pineville, Michael Nelson of Ferriday, Robert Netterville of St. Joseph, Josh Kennedy of Newelton and Will Roark of Crowville.

Jon-Christian Nelson of Waterproof, brother of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. Guests' tables were covered with white linens accented with a black overlay. The bridesmaid's bouquets served as the centerpieces for the tables.

The bride's cake was a four-tiered white confection trimmed with black ribbon around each layer. The cake was topped with a scrolled monogrammed "N." Nikki Roark of Crowville served the bride's cake.

The groom's table was decorated with a fleur de lis plaque featuring the couple's names and wedding date. Three different flavors of cheesecake was served by Glenda Scott of Meadville, Miss., and Melissa Pecanty of Monterey served the wedding cake.

Pam Ganey of Monterey was the wedding director.

An after-wedding party was held at the home of the bride's parents in Monterey.

Following a wedding trip to Florida and the Bahamas, the couple is at home in Waterproof.
