Caldwell's Donald plus Mangham's Ausberry equal yardage

Mangham High knew if it was going to slow down Caldwell's offense it would have to slow down running back Centarius Donald, considered one of the top backs in the state.

The Dragons held Donald to 100 yards rushing in a 18-12 win to improve to 3-1.

"We had to put everybody on him," said Mangham coach Tommy Tharp. "They don't have a lot of weapons besides him, so we wanted to try and shut him down. We held them to 175 yards rushing, so that was a big key. We only fumbled once, and that went out of bounds, so we were fortunate there."

Shaquille Ausberry had another big game for the Dragons, rushing for 200 yards and a touchdown. The Dragons had about 400 yards in offense.

"The rain did not effect us as much as it appeared to effect them, which surprised me," Tharp said. "Right now we're playing pretty good football, but we're getting ready to get into the meat of our schedule."

Mangham visits LaSalle Friday.

"They are a lot bigger and stronger than we are, but we have more speed," Tharp said. "It's going to be another one of those games that will be decided by turnovers."
