First bale of the season
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Producer Thomas Crain of Winnsboro harvested the cotton for the parish's first bale of the season. The 539 lb. bale was picked from Crain's 354-acre irrigated farm on McCaleb Road and ginned at Farmer's Gin in Gilbert. Franklin Cotton Warehouse reported the bale to The Franklin Sun Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 8:05 a.m. The bale is set to be auctioned off during the annual Farmer's Appreciation banquet.
