They also chatted, listened to music and enjoyed delicious food prepared by Carlos' Catering. Upon returning to the hotel, many relaxed by the pool while others swam and enjoyed the cool waters. Later that evening, they had a great time at the banquet where Debbie C. Ignont served as Mistress of Ceremony. The reunion song "Celebration" was the theme song. Taylor Major entertained the family with a dance routine and Kenny and Tan Blackson graced them with a duet, "Wind Beneath My Wings." Some family members shared family storieswhich were enlightening and amusing.
The climax of the reunion was Sunday Morning worship service which was held at First Zion Baptist Church in Winnsboro, where the newly elected pastor is Rev. Jimmy Ray Spears. Rev. Kenneth Blackson served as Master of Ceremony. Otis Thomas gave the welcome.
On behalf of the family, Alecia Thomas Davis, made special presentations to Lena Wade (92); Ellen D. Lee (88); Dell Ignont (81) and Lydia Lewis (83). The family choir rendered song service with Edwin Johnson and Charles Hunter II serving as musicians. Deller Atkins introduced her brother, Rev. Clyde N. Ignont Jr., who delivered the message. After the worship service, the family retired to the home of Jessie and Sammie White where they enjoyed dinner and had a family meeting. The family plans to have the next reunion in 2011 in Houston, Texas. |
