Club drive leads Patriots Jamboree

The Franklin Parish High School Booster Club will hold a membership-drive hamburger supper before the start of the Patriot Jamboree Friday night with two games against the Mangham Dragons.

The meal will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria, with a junior varsity game starting at 7 p.m. and the varsity contest going off at 8 p.m. Games are in Patriot Stadium.

Both Booster Club membership and the cost of the hamburger supper is $10 and club members can purchase home-game chairback season tickets for $35.

The Jamboree will be the final pre-season event for both Franklin Parish and Mangham.
Franklin Parish opens the season at Delhi Charter on Sept. 4 and Mangham hosts Ouachita Christian on the same date.

In one of its last scrimmages last Friday, the Patriots showed sparks of both hope and disparity,

"We were hesitant, not finishing our assignments," said Coach Barry Sebren.

"We only have one week to work our the bugs for Mangham at the FPHS Jamboree this Friday."

Sebren said the coaching staff is working at a torrid pace to overcome, "mistakes on both offense and defense," which showed up during the 50-play scrimmage against Ravyille and Ruston last week.

Sebren said this week's Jamboree, "will our last practice game before it starts counting in the record books.

"I have emphasized the urgency to our team about playing well. We have Delhi Charter in two weeks in the season opener. They are going to be ready so we had better be ready."

In other football news, Sebren said a Pee Wee league organizational meeting is planned for Saturday in the parking lot of the Franklin Parish School Board. He said response to the creation of a junior-size league, so far, has been "insufficient."
