Dragons dominate post-season teams

Mangham's baseball Dragons may have finished second for the second consecutive year in the state Class 1A finals, but they have dominant roles in the post season teams selected by the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association.

Mangham Coach Scott Wilcher was named coach of the year for the state and district 4-1A. The Dragons finished with a 27-9 mark and the runner up trophy under his guidance.

Dragons on the all state team include third baseman Karl Wiggers, who had 48 RBIs and 10 home runs for the year; junior pitcher Jared Dye, who ended with a 10-1 record; center fielder Tyler Everitt and utility player, Josh Wilson.

Wilson was named the most valuable player in the district by the coaches association.
Six junior on the 2009 Dragon team were named to the all district squad. They include:
Jason Jarrette, seond base, Todd Duchesne, Jacob Mooney and Dye, pitchers, Alex Smart, left field and Kyle King, utility.

Three seniors on the first all district team are: Jeb Bryan, catcher, Wiggers, third base, and Everitt, center field.

Junior Spencer Nobles was named to the all district, second team.
