The 13-year-old All Stars from Franklin Parish got off to a shaky start but won their opening game in a state tournament in Sulphur Monday only to lose to district rival Monroe in the second round, 14-4.

The Franklin 14 year-old All Stars were also eliminated from the tournament on Monday.
The Franklin team spread nine hits in a 8-4 win over Minden in the first round of the tournament after dropping two games and winning only one in the pre-tournament seeding round which was played last weekend.

Franklin lost to Monroe in a Monday evening game of the single elimination tournament. Franklin finished second to Monroe in the district tournament at the close of the season.

In the Franklin win over Minden, Kurt McGuffee had two RBIs with a single with Mike Moroni and Robbie Dearing each doubled to produce runs. Hunter Jones also doubled in the win.
Singles by Jon Robbins and Taylor Gilley rounded out the Franklin hit production.

Robbins was the starter who worked the first four innings with McGuffee relieving in the fifth inning. Combined the Franklin pitchers gave up seven hits.

A total of 12 teams went into the tournament with the field to be pared to two teams by Wednesday, when a best of three championship series begins.
