John Albright officiating. Mrs. Barham was a substance abuse counselor and passed away on July 8, 2009. Ruby Jean Arnold Ezell Funeral services for Ruby Jean Arnold Ezell, 58, of Gilbert, were held at Apostolic Faith Chapel in Gilbert on Saturday, July 11, 2009 with Rev. Kevin Bates and Rev. Mrs. Ezell was born March 31, 1951 in Gilbert, and passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at her residence in Gilbert. She was an elementary teacher at Gilbert Jr. High, a "Canton Girl", and a member of the Life Church in Winnsboro. She was preceded in death by her father, Whitfield Arnold; and sister, Barbara Arnold. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Ezell of Gilbert; her mother, Bobbie (Fowler) Arnold; son, John Ezell and wife Jessica of Gilbert; daughter, Terie Ezell of West Monroe; brother, Buddy Arnold and wife Sherry of Chase; three sisters: Denise Gregory and husband David of Hebert; Debra Curry of Gilbert; and Amy Armstrong and husband Kelly of Winnsboro; special sister, Phyllis Ezell of Winnsboro; brother-in-law, Mark Ezell and wife Renee of Gilbert; sister-in-law, Lou Walker and husband Randy of Gilbert; mother- and father-in-law, Louis and Christine Ezell of Gilbert; grandchildren: Randi Taylor, Tanner, Raley, and Kalleigh Grace; and ahost of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Mrs. Heard, a retired insurance agent and homemaker, died July 7, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, James E. Saunders; and husbands, C. C. Futch and George P. Heard, Sr. Survivors are her two sons: J. T. Saunders and wife, Pat of Spearsville and John C. Survivors include three sons: Richard Bell, Willie McMahon and Robert McMahon, all of Winnsboro; three daughters: Peggy Bell Jimerson, Deborah McMahon and Carolyn McMahon, all of Winnsboro; four brothers: Howard Hartford and Leo Williams, both of Winnsboro; Willie Williams, Zachary; Edward Watson, Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters: Marie Henderson, Winnsboro; Eloise Hartford, San Francisco, Calif.; 27 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.
Sallie C. Oatis Funeral services for Sallie C. Oatis, 92, of Winnsboro were held June 19, 2009 at True Light Baptist Church in Winnsboro with the Rev. Herman Harris Sr. officiating. Burial followed in Sims-Gethsemane Cemetery under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mrs. Oatis died June 11, 2009 at Franklin Medical Center. Survivors include one son, Robert E. Oatis, Federal Way, Wash.; daughters: Katie M. Smith and Helen P. Lee, both of Tacoma, Wash.; Lucille Johnson and Linda J. Carlin, both of Seattle, Wash.; Maxcine Davis, San Francisco, Calif.; Bobbie N. Oatis, Winnsboro; 32 grandchildren and 67 great-grandchildren.
Gloria Price Mother, mentor, counselor, friend.... Gloria Price now rests with Jesus. She was born Aug. 6, 1925 and passed away June 21, 2009. She is survived by three children: David V. Price, Sicily Island; Dana L. Veach, Monroe; Lisa A. Kelley, Grandview, Mo.; and four grandchildren: Timon S. Veach, Jennifer M. Winney, David M. Gish and Amy Fischer; and by her brother, P.J. Spears Jr., Sicily Island. Because you prayed, Mama, we will see you again. We love you. Interment was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
Paul P. Price Sr. Funeral services for Paul P. Price, Sr., 86, of Winnsboro were held on Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at Winnsboro First United Methodist Church under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Rev. Bill Foster, Rev. Francis Guy, and Rev. Lionel Robinson will officiate with internment to follow at Chase Cemetery. Mr. Price was born September 27, 1922 and passed away July 10, 2009 at his home in Winnsboro. Mr. Price was a lifelong resident of Winnsboro, and a member of the Winnsboro High School Class of 1939. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, as well as a veteran of World War II. He was also a licensed ham radio operator with call letters K5AIM. He was self-employed throughout his working life as a land abstracter and real estate appraiser, and published the Franklin Parish Daily Legal News for over 60 years. Mr. Price was a successful businessman in Winnsboro, a charter member of the Winnsboro Rotary Club, and served on the Board of Directors of Winnsboro State Bank and Trust Company for the past 21 years. Those who knew him experienced his dry yet quick sense of humor which stayed with him until his final days. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and it was his family that brought him his greatest joy and comfort throughout his life. Mr. Price was predeceased by his parents, Allen L. and Stella Price, his daughter, Pamela Louise Price McWilliams, two sisters, Rogenia Price Hollis and Bessie Price Johnston, and a half-brother, Allen Lott Price. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lena Radau Price; a son, Paul P. Price, Jr. and wife Lindy of Winnsboro; five grandchildren; Heather Price Jemerson and fiancé Randy Thornhill of Winnsboro; Emily McWilliams Palmer and husband John of West Monroe; "Trey" Price and wife Beth of Winnsboro; Maria McWilliams Tyler and husband Ryan of West Monroe; and Patrick McWilliams and wife Jordan of West Monroe. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Hannah and Jacob Jemerson, Meagan and Mason Palmer, Camryn and Keegan Price, and Pamela Blake Tyler. Mr. Price is also survived by two step-grandchildren, Nikki Stewart of Winnsboro and Chris Lewis of Chattanooga, Tenn. Pallbearers were Trey Price, Patrick McWilliams, Ryan Tyler, John Palmer, Randy Thornhill, and Pat Hollis. Honorary pallbearers were the Winnsboro State Bank Board of Directors. The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Unit in Winnsboro and the Glenwood Acute Dialysis Unit for their care during the past several years, along with his fellow dialysis patients who touched Mr. Price in a variety of ways during the time he spent with them. The family also expresses their appreciation to Dr. Ewing and the staff at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe, as well as the staff at HomeCare Resources. Ethel Parks Thompson Funeral service for Ethel Parks Thompson, 98, of Winnsboro were held on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Max Lee officiating. She was interred in the New Winnsboro Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson was born October 30, 1910 to J.M. and Martha Jane Liles Parks in Liddieville and died Thursday, July 9, 2009 in Plantation Nursing Home in Winnsboro after a long and productive life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband W.T. "Slick" Thompson; son William Parks "Billy" Thompson; three brothers: Baskin Parks, Ramage Parks, and Nolan Parks; and two sisters: Callie Browder and Mary Frances Alford. Mrs. Thompson is survived by two sons: Steve Thompson of Ferriday and Tommy Thompson of Shreveport; a daughter: Betty Zane Williams of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her very caring and loving daughter-in-law, Jeannette H. Thompson whose attentiveness to her during her time of illness was unending. She is also survived by two sisters: Jewel Doughty and Hazel McWiggins of Winnsboro. Mrs. Thompson was also blessed with eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. She was a long time elementary teacher in the public school of Franklin Parish, and taught school for over 40 years. She was a positive influence upon all whom she taught. She was a graduate of Northwestern State University (then known as "Normal") and later earned a master's degree in education. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Winnsboro. Pallbearers were grandsons: Andy Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, John Williams, Ted Williams and friends John Guice and Billy R. Smith. James Doughty, George Price, Jr. and A. A. Mr. Williamson was born Dec. 23, 1914 in Sicily Island, and passed away Friday, July 3, 2009 at Plantation Manor Nursing Home in Winnsboro. He was a resident of Baskin, a farmer, a retired custodian of Baskin School, and a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Williamson of 69 years; son, Jimmy E. Williamson; his parents, Albert Williamson and Anna Hutchinson Williamson; granddaughter, Kaye Crabtree; four sisters and five brothers. Survivors include his children: John and Audrey Williamson of Baskin; James and Joyce Williamson of Rayville; Charles and Martha Williamson of Baskin; Tilda and Bobby Crabtree of Mangham; Rudy and Buddy Long of Baskin; Buster and Pam Williamson of Baskin; Sylvia and Lynn Williamson of Rayville; and Hope and Marvin Williamson of West Monroe; 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren: J.D., Chloe, and Lele; special great-niece, Robin Storey whom we could not have made it without her; Billy Renea and all Daddy's "Little Darlings"; Plantation Manor Nursing Home nurses and aides and all other staff; many special nieces and nephews and friends.
