Youth football league forms during summer Organizational plans for a Pee-Wee football league in Franklin Parish are begin developed, according to Franklin Parish High School Athletic Director Barry Sebren. Two community meetings are scheduled this week.
With plans to start in September, Sebren will spearhead the effort to establish the league with the help of his coaching staff and other community leaders.
"We need all of the help that we can get. Once you get it going, it will run itself, but getting it going right is a top priority," Sebren said.
"I already have and will continue to contact leaders of our communities and parents in order to establish a base of support for our league. The people that I have talked with have all basically said the same thing, "It's long overdue".
The league will consist of Flag football for first and second graders, Tackle I for third and fourth graders and Tackle II for fifth and sixth graders.
Games will be played at FPHS Baseball Complex. There will be a meeting at the Baskin Community Center on Wednesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. for all parents of Crowville and Baskin players who may be interested.
There will be a meeting at Gilbert Community Center on Wednesday, June 17 at 5:30 p.m. for all parents of Wisner,Gilbert and Fort players who may be interested.
Cheerleading will also be offered for each team.
