Posted 6/9/09 Vivian Wilson Allen Funeral services for Vivian Wilson Allen, 79, of Vicksburg, Miss., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Gill Chapel in Winnsboro with Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Ogden Cemetery near Liddieville community under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Ms. Allen was born to the union of her parents W. L. and Willie Hynum Wilson on Nov. 9, 1929 and passed from this life on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was a member of Boeuf River Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband William A. Allen; son; William D. Allen and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter: Nancy Allen of Vicksburg, Miss.; grandsons: Joshua Sherman and Chase Sherman; granddaughters: Jennifer Allen, Courtney Allen and Christine Allen Welch; two sisters: Vedia W. Watkins of Starkville, Miss., and Mary W. Davis of Dallas, Texas; one brother: Clarence E. Wilson of Coldwater, Miss.; numerous nieces and nephews. Sammy L. 'Rook' Holcomb Funeral service for Sammy L. "Rook" Holcomb, 72, of Gilbert were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in the chapel of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro with Rev. Curtis Harris and Rev. Virgil Harris officiating. Interment followed in Oakley Cemetery in Gilbert. Mr. Holcomb was born to Clyde Dewey and Eva Camille Shields Holcomb on April 5, 1937 and passed from this life Saturday, June 6, 2009 in Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro following a brief illness. Mr. Holcomb worked as a Pipeline Superintendent for many years and owned Holcomb Flying Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles B. Holcomb and a son Sammy Lee Holcomb, Jr. He is survived by his wife Anne Holcomb of Gilbert; daughter Lee-Anne Holcomb of Lake Charles; son Ryan Holcomb of Gilbert; brother Bill Holcomb and wife Faye of Gilbert; sister Margaret Murphy of Gilbert; numerous nieces and nephews; and two "four-legged children" Cissy and Bo. Pallbearers were Jewel Armstrong, Ty Britt, Derrick Guillot, James Lachney, Jimmy Dale Robbins, and Robert Wayne Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were Charles W. Holcomb, Ted Holder, Dave Jones, Ed Rodgers, D. D. Smith, Jerry Talley, and Sherman Wilson. The family requests that planned memorials may be made to the Ouachita Parish Humane Society – P.O. She was born to Van and Doris Williams Powell on April 21, 1934 in Liddieville and passed from this life Friday, June 5, 2008 in Thibodaux. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband William Fussell, Sr. She is survived: three sons Bill Fussell Jr., Boyd Fussell, and Bryan Fussell; a brother John Powell; and five grandchildren.

He was born to Nerious and Georgia Herlong Fussell on Nov. 5, 1928 in Jigger and passed from this life Thursday, June 4, 2008 in Thibodaux. He parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Mary Powell Fussell of Thidodaux; three sons Bill Fussell, Jr., Boyd Fussell, and Bryan Fussell; two brothers Nerious Fussell, Jr., and Carey Fussell; one sister Carolyn Salines and five grandchildren.

Willie Charles Rollins Funeral services for Willie Charles Rollins, 78, of Michigan were held May 23, 2009 at Ann Arbor 1st Church of Nazarene in Michigan. Mr. Rollins was born April 28, 1931 in Winnsboro and passed away May 16, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents Ike and Isabelle Rollins; and six siblings. Survivors include his wife of 59 1/2 years, Mattie; children: Sylvester Rollins, Debra Rollins, Sam Rollins, Diana Morning, and Kim Rollins; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; brothers: Mack Rollins, Jessie Rollins, Markham Rollins, Isaac Rollins; sisters: Gussie Wheatley and Martha Cameron; and a host of other relatives.
Ruth Ellen Vines Azbill Ruth Ellen Vines Azbill, 72, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ky. She was born to the union of Horace and Lugenia Davis Vines of Winnsboro. She was married to her husband, the late Bill Azbill for over 49 years. Mrs. Azbill graduated from Winnsboro High School where she played basketball, softball and volleyball for the Winnsboro Wildcats. She retired from Verizon Telephone Company after 22 years. After retirement, she opened the Laurel Florist Shop in London. She operated the shop for the last 30 years. Mrs. Azbill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of London, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ida June Vines, Winnsboro; three brothers, Thomas Douglas Vines, West Monroe; Joe D. Vines, Grayson; and James Edward Vines, Winnsboro. Mrs. Azbill is survived by her two sons: David Randall (Randy) Azbill and Russell D. Azbill, both of London, Ky.; two brothers: William Horace Vines, Shreveport; John Edgar Vines, Holly Ridge; two sisters; Judge (Ret.) Mary Helen Vines Laird, Kirbyville, Texas, Margaret Eleanor Vines Rush, Crowville; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services were conducted by Bro. Ron Parker on May 31, 2009 at A.R.
