Board praises scroes According to unofficial results of the recent testing of area students, Franklin Parish has made extraordinary improvements from the scores recorded last year.
Early estimates of schools in the parish were revealed at the regular meeting of the school board on Monday evening.
"These are rough numbers," said Superintendent Lanny Johnson, "they represent the performance scores at each school and will be averaged in with last year's scores."
Johnson said scores for Franklin Parish High School and Horace G. White Learning Center, had not been released.
"We're very proud of these improvements," said Johnson, "I just want to congratulate all of the principals, teachers and staff for the great work they've done this year."
At Baskin school, the school performance score (SPS) went up from 72.8 in 2008 to 79.8 in 2009. Crowville School's SPS rose from 81.0 in 2008 to 89.6 in 2009; Gilbert School's SPS improved from 83.8 in 2008 to 89.9 in 2009; the SPS for Fort School in 2008 was 64.8, climbing to 81.8 in 2009. Winnsboro Elementary made the strongest improvement, climbing from 42.8 in 2008 to 62.2 in 2009.
President Eddie Ray Bryan stated in the president's report that improvements are needed to the Internet-based J-Parent. J-Parent is an online tool for guardians and parents to access their student's academic and attendance records. |
