Posted 4/28/09 Dorothy S. Tarver Funeral services for Dorothy S. Tarver, 78, of Winnsboro, were held at Sardis Baptist Church on Friday, April 24, 2009, with Rev. Wayne Stroud and Rev. Leon Ward officiating. Interment followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mrs. Tarver was born April 25, 1930 in Harrisonburg, La., and passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. She was a resident of Liddieville, a nurses aide, and a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Tarver; father, Iley Simons; mother, Gladys (Tillman) Simons; brother, Dennie Simons. Survivors include two sons: Larry Tarver, and Garland Tarver and wife Patti, all of Winnsboro; brother: Charles Simons of Winnsboro; three grandchildren: Josh McCarty and Brittany Hutson, both of Archibald, and Theda Glass of West Monroe; three great-grandchildren: Joseph, Haley, and Corey. James Ray 'Bo-Ray' Tarver James Ray "Bo-Ray" Tarver, 68, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at his home in Lexington, Ky., after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be at Lamar Baptist Church on Saturday, May 2, 2009 from 2-5 p.m., with a memorial service to follow. Bro. Jason Lupo will officiating. Mr. Tarver retired from the Air Force after 24 years of service, which included recruiting in the Monroe area. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Jewel Tarver; and one brother, Jerry Tarver. He is survived by one son, Kenneth Tarver and wife Nancy of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters: Debbie McJunkins of Norman, Okla., and Carol Hendry and husband Dewayne of Winnsboro; two brothers: Charles Tarver and Frank Tarver; one sister: Betty Stinson; the mother of his children, Diane Tarver; fiancee, Mary Allender; grandchildren: Chris and wife Kim Tarver, Chase Tarver, Katie Tarver, Kylie Tarver, Matthew Hendry, Kristin Hendry and Hannah Hendry.
