Little League Baseball In local games in the 9-10-year-old boys league, the following scores were recently reported:
Winnsboro Sports 8, Dennis Crain 2
Defense and pitching played a key in Winnsboro Sports defeat of Dennis Crain Dodge by a score of 8-2. Winnsboro Sports starting pitcher Landon Chunn completed two innings shutting down four players. Reliver Heath Hackney allowed five base on balls, and one hit. Chris Sikes also saw action on the mound for Winnsboro Sports Tuesday night, with two outs. Chase Morrison was starting pitcher for Dennis Crain Dodge. He struck out five players, allowed four bases, and three hits. Zach Parks also pitched for Dennis Crain Dodge, striking out eight, with one base on balls and only one hit. On Winnsboro Sports team Cameron Lovett got a double. Landon Chunn, a single and Chris Sikes a double. For Dennis Crain Zach Parks got a single.
Caldwell Farms 6, Croplan Genetics 5
Caldwell Farmsí Charlie Gray crossed home to score the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of third inning with time running out. Caldwellís Hunter Waller pitched two innings, allowing only one hit and one run. Relief pitcher Ryder Caldwell allowed four runs. Croplan Geneticsí Conner Cureington was tagged for four runs, four hits, four bases, and got one strikeout in the first inning. Dalton Matthews and Ian Collins each allowed one run. Matthews got one strikeout and Collins got two. Top hitter was Conner Taylor, who singled, sending two runners home. Ryder Caldwell doubled For Croplan Tyler Easterling singled.
Dennis Crain 5, Raley Brothers 2
Joseph Wolleson, in a pitcher's debut, worked a complete game for the winners, striking out five while walking only two and giving up three hits. The Dennis Crain infield played errorless, throwing out five base runners at first base.
7-8-year-old boys
Front Street Storage takes two
Front Street Storage took two games, 7-6 over Home Hardware and 8-6 over Waller-Singer. Despite a grand slam by Logon Tullos and a four-hit game by Alex Ezell, Home Hardware could not pull out a victory in the final inning against Front Street. Gus Guin had four hits for the winners, including a single, triple and home run. Bo Beard and Kolby Poindexter doubled for the winners with Gregory Bailey picking up two singles. Ryder Adkins and Grant Emfinger also singled for Front Street. Against Waller-Singer, Gwin, Atkins and Beard had triples with Atkins, Gwin and John Walker Head hitting doubles. Roberts, Smith and Chapman had three base hits for Waller-Singer. |
