4-H Summer Camp at Grant Walker Attention Franklin Parish 4th, 5th, and 6th graders! Come spend a week with us at 4-H Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, Louisiana. 4-H Summer Camp for Franklin Parish is scheduled for Monday, July 27, through Friday July 31. Joining Franklin campers will be 4-H'ers from LaSalle, Catahoula, Iberville, Sabine, Desoto, St. Charles, and West Baton Rouge parishes.
Camping is one of the most valuable experiences a child can have. It's a learning experience that helps boys and girls appreciate the outdoors, live together as a group, get along with others, and appreciate people with different interests and backgrounds. Activities at camp include canoeing, archery, hunter safety, environmental education and computers, along with swimming, volleyball, softball, basketball, games, and crafts.
One of the most important things children learn from camp is to be self-sufficient. That is, they learn they can survive for four whole days without Mom or Dad. 4-H agents and volunteer leaders and counselors from each parish attend and stay in the cabins with the campers.
Camp fees which include food, lodging, transportation, and a camp picture and T-shirt are $140.00 Thirteen boys and Thirteen girls from Franklin parish who are in 4th through 6th grade and will not have exceeded their 13th birthday by May 30, 2009 can attend camp that week. Rules for acceptance and participation in the program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, gender, or disability. For any camper interested in attending 4-H camp, or if you have any questions contact the LSU AgCenter 4-H office in Winnsboro at 435-7551. A $50.00 deposit must be turned in by April 24, 2009, so call now to reserve your spot and to receive the needed materials. We hope to see you there! |
