Little receives LSDAR leadership scholarship
Oakley Chapter DAR members attended the 100th State Conference of the Louisiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The event was held in Shreveport, March 26-28. The theme of the conference was "Harvesting our Heritage."
Attending the conference as delegates from the local chapter were Mary Belle White, state corresponding secretary; Charlotte White, Oakley Chapter regent and Good Citizen Award state chairman; and Marian Johnson, Oakley public relations chairman and flag chairman.
Of special significance to Oakley Chapter on opening night of the conference was the presentation by NSDAR President General Linda Gist Calvin of the 2008 LSDAR Blanche Marxsen Leadership Scholarship to Franklin Academy senior and future DAR member Katy Pauline Little. Katy's proud parents, John and Charlotte Little were on hand to congratulate her for the award.
Charlotte White presented the state winner of the Good Citizen Essay Contest Award to the conference at the awards luncheon and sang in the state choir at the annual memorial service.
