Posted 4/7/09 John Wilbur Braud A graveside service for John Wilbur Braud, 99, of New Orleans, were held Friday, April 3, 2009 at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Braud was born Oct. 3, 1909 in New Orleans and passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at Charlyn Nursing Home in Winnsboro. He was a self-employed house painter, avid fisherman, and a lifetime resident of New Orleans.
Eugene Green Funeral services for Eugene Green, 63, of Gilbert were held Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church in Chase with the Rev. Deaque Field Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Oakley Cemetery under the direction of Richardson and Sims Funeral Home, Winnsboro. Mr. Green died Monday at Franklin Medical Center following a brief illness. He is survived by one sister, Marjorie Jean Thomas; three brothers: Adell brown, Baton Rouge; Willie Brown, Amarillo, Texas; and Teddie Brown, Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers were Harrison Thomas, Adell Brown Jr., Teddie Adell Brown, Bryeeson Brown, Phillip Brown and Willie Brown.
Maxine Tidwell Mahoney Maxine Tidwell Mahoney was born on Feb. 26, 1923 in Wisner, Louisiana to Eugene and Arta (Armstrong) Tidwell. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 86. She received the Holy Ghost at Kendricks Ferry at the age of 10 and served God tenaciously for 76 years. On Jan. 30, 1940 she married T.J. Mahoney. She and her husband founded a church in El Centro, California in 1954. Other pastorates included Church Point, Macon Ridge, Kings Community (Wisner), Kilbourne and Holden in the State of Louisiana. They also pastored in New Hebron and Brookhaven, Mississippi. They were assisting in Natchez at the time of Brother Mahoney's death in 1970. She was employed at Texas Bible College in Houston for 13 years, serving as Dietitian and Ladies Dorm Supervisor. During this time she attended Life Tabernacle. Upon her retirement, she moved to Natchez and attended the church pastored by her son. For the past 19 years she has been a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Jackson. Sister Mahoney was predeceased by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mary Jane, five sisters and one brother. She is survived by her children: Pat McNair of Florence, Miss.; Norma and Mike McNair of Richland, Miss.; Tim and Joan Mahoney of Moss Bluff, La.; six grandchildren: Tanya Hanks, Michael McNair, Tommy Eubanks, John Eubanks, John Mahoney and Justin Mahoney. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Phillips of Bentley, La.; one sister-in-law, Leta Kendrick of Vidalia, La.; one brother-in-law, Finley Daniels of Natchez, Miss. Funeral service was held Friday at First Pentecostal Church of Jackson. Funeral services were also held Saturday at Winnsboro United Pentecostal Church with interment in Oakley Cemetery, Gilbert, La. Robert 'Rod' Edward Smith Funeral services for Robert "Rod" Edward Smith, 58, of Winnsboro will be held at South Central Baptist Church today (Wednesday), April 8, 2009 at 10 a.m., with Rev. Kelly Clark and Rev. T.J. Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Mr. Smith was born Sept. 16. 1950 in Wisner, and passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at his residence in Liddieville. He was a mobile equipment master mechanic with La. Dept. of Transportation, and a member of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Bass, father, Luther Gordon Smith Sr.; three sisters: Ruby Marie Newsom, Rita Pearl Jones, and Jennie Lee Winters. Survivors include his wife, Lita Booth Smith, Winnsboro; beloved mother of his children, Jewel V. Arender, Winnsboro; son: Robert "Robby" Smith and wife Angela, Winnsboro; daughter, April Smith Winborne and husband, Terence of Gilbert; two sisters: Evelyn Smith, Alpena, Ark.; Carolyn Denham and husband Bob of Denham; brother, Luther Gordon "Boy" Smith, Winnsboro; five grandchildren: Tarah Williamson, M. Scarlett Britt, Jared Smith, Jordan Smith, and Taylor Winborne; two great-grandchildren: Nelee Williamson and Brenon Williamson. Pallbearers will be Rodney Rials, Douglas Mooney, Billy Olivo, Matthew Bass, Robert Bass, and Will Batey. Honorary pallbearer will be John Horn. The family will received friends at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009.
