|Kindergarten and Pre-K registration|
Registration for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2009-2010 school year will be held on the following dates: Gilbert on April 24; Baskin on April 27; Winnsboro on May 1; Fort Necessity on May 4; and Crowville on May 8. All registrations will be held at the Franklin Parish School Board from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To enter pre-kindergarten a child must be 4 years old by September 30, 2009 and a kindergarten student must be 5 years old by September 30, 2009. No child will be registered prior to the scheduled round-up date for the school zone in which they reside, after that date a child may be registered on scheduled registration days during the summer. Students completing pre-kindergarten in a Franklin Parish School or Franklin Parish Headstart for the 2008-2009 school year will not be required to register again for kindergarten unless they have changed residence. The parent will have to provide an up-to-date immunization record prior to the beginning of school.
To enroll a student the parent/guardian will be requuired to complete a registration packet and provide the following documents: two (2) proofs of th eir 911 residence, birth certificate, social security card, and an up-to-date immunization record. Immunization records must be up-to-date as of the registration date. Students requiring additional immunizations between the round-up date and the beginning of school, must receive them and provide the up-to-date record before the student will be allowed to attend school. This is state law. Registration will not be complete until all of these documents have been provided.
Pre-kindergarten students whose registrations are complete will be enrolled in a class in the order in which they were completed until the available class space has been assigned. After the classes are full, completed registrations will be placed on a waiting list according to the completion date. Incomplete registrations are placed on hold until all documentation is provided, once all required documentation is completed, the student will then be placed on the waiting list according to the completion date. Post office box numbers are nnot acceptable as proof of residence.
