Patriots win two district games, prepare for Neville The Franklin Parish Patriots had a successful week on the baseball field and look to continue the momentum through district play this week.
Franklin Parish (9-9, 2-1) began the week with a non-district loss at Oak Grove Tuesday night.
The offense got going too late for the Patriots as Oak Grove took an early advantage and hung on for a 7-5 win over Franklin Parish.
Jonathan Eaton went 2-for-3 for Franklin Parish. Eaton is now batting .519 on the season with nine RBI.
Tyler Roberts (1-1) pitched four innings and surrendered five runs on five hits while striking out four Tigers.
Thursday evening the Patriots went toe-to-toe with Bastrop in each teams district opener before a thunderstorm caused the game to be suspended in a 2-2 tie.
Saturday in Bastrop, the game continued and Bastrop put together a three-run eighth-inning to win the game 5-2 over the Patriots.
Preston Coleman doubled to score Denzel Duvall before Tyler Eldridge singled to give Bastrop the 5-2 lead.
Franklin Parish fared much better in the double-header Saturday as they earned the series win with a pair of victories over Bastrop.
Jordan Temple (2-1) got the win on the mound with a spectacular complete game effort that also included a RBI single in the top of the first that gave the Patriots the lead.
Bastrop put two on the board to grab the lead at 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning. The Patriots then scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good.
Jonathan Eaton delivered the big hit of the game for Franklin Parish with a two-run single in the fourth inning that put Bastrop on their heels. Eaton went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Patriots.
The second game of the double-header saw the Patriots explode offensively in a 14-3 victory over Bastrop.
Tyler Roberts went 2-for-3 with three RBIs in the nightcap as the game got out of hand by just the second inning.
In the top of the second, Franklin Parish took a 7-1 lead after Roberts lead the way with a two-run double to left field during the four-run second frame.
Bastrop issued 11 base-on-balls and the 10-run rule was in effect by the fifth inning as Franklin Parish added five runs in the fifth to end the game.
Ethan Bass (2-1) got the win after allowing just one hit in five innings of work for the Patriots.
Franklin Parish will host the Neville Tigers on Thursday night in the first of three games in the district schedule this week. Neville will then host a double-header beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Monroe. |
