The Franklin Parish Patriots annual tournament was rained out over the past weekend in Winnsboro.

The Patriots (7-3) pounded on Rayville, 14-4, in the only game of the tournament before the rains rolled into the area and made field conditions unusable.

Ethan Bass led the way for the Patriots as he went a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate. All of his hits were doubles and he recorded a team-best three RBI on the night.

Christian Eaton also swung a hot bat as he was 2-for-2 and was walked once for the Patriots. Eaton was another one of nine Franklin Parish players to record a RBI in the game against Rayville.

Nick Williams was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Jordan Temple and Tyler Dooley were also in on the hit parade as they recorded two RBIs each for the Patriots.

Michael Whitley was 1-for-3 as he also got an RBI for Franklin Parish. The Patriots sent 25 batters to the plate in the five inning contest. Franklin Parish came away with 10 hits on the evening.

Jordan Temple (3-1) started on the mound for the Patriots. Temple allowed just two hits and struck out two batters in two innings of work.

Michael Parks also surrendered just two hits while fanning two batters in a pair of relief innings. Michael Whitley closed out the game with one inning of no-hit relief work for Franklin Parish.

This week, the Patriots will head to the Vidalia tournament beginning Friday with a 7:30 p.m. start.

On Saturday the Patriots will meet Kilbourne in a 2:15 p.m. contest at Vidalia. The tournament will conclude Saturday night.

Head coach Lynn Middleton will hold his annual spring camp this week as well. The camp runs Thursday thru Saturday.

The weekday sessions will be at the Patriot baseball complex from 4-7 p.m. The Saturday session will be held from 9-2 p.m.

The camp is for kids K-8th grade for a cost of $75.00 per child. Registration forms can be found in the main office of Franklin Parish High School, Winnsboro Sports, or online at www.fphspatriots.com.
