Eight arrested after school fight Eight Franklin Parish High School students face expulsion after their arrests for disturbing the peace during a fight that erupted on campus. According to Winnsboro Chief of Police Lester Thomas, school officials had intervened when the officers arrived on the scene Thursday morning.
No serious injuries were reported, though witnesses saw blood on a male teacher.
Deputies from the Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department were on hand to assist.
Six students were booked as adults (17-years-old and older) into the Franklin Parish Detention Center and two students were charged as juveniles (16 years or younger).
Arrested and charged with disturbing the peace were: Ladarius Wilson, 17, 125 Redwood Circle, Gilbert; Jonathan Wilson, 18, 78 Prairie Road, Winnsboro; Darrion M. Wilson, 18, 125 Redwood Circle, Gilbert; Jermeitris Q. Anderson, 17, 2105 Pinecrest, Winnsboro;
Tony Miles, 17, 2312 Cypress Street, Winnsboro; and Domeitres M. Anderson, 17, 1206 Bosworth St., Winnsboro. Domeitres M. Anderson was also charged with battery of a school teacher.
Franklin Parish Supt. Lanny Johnson said the matter was currently under investigation. "An expulsion hearing will be held for each student," said Johnson, "at that time, the principal will make recommendations and we will do whatever it takes to insure the students are safe." Thomas said the cause of the dispute is currently under investigation, though no more arrests are pending at this time. |
