Drug operation nets 18 arrests

In an operation dubbed "March Wind", narcotics officers from the Fanklin Parish Sheriff's office concluded a six-month investigation Monday with the arrest of 18 parish residents.

Warrents remain outstanding for 14 others suspected in illegal drug activity.

A total of 16 Sheriff's Deputies were involved in the operation, which began early Monday morning and lasted about four hours.

Franklin Parish Sheriff Steve Pylant said the investigation, "is just another step in reducing the narcotics activity throughout our parish."

A statement issued by Chief Deputy Kevin Cobb said: "18 arrests were made Monday morning, leaving 14 active warrants on individuals not yet located. Those arrested were booked into the Franklin Parish Detention Center and held on bonds ranging from $12,500 to $75,000.

Many of the arrested appeared in Fifth District Court Tuesday morning in the Franklin Parish Court House.

"We still have narcotics investigations pending which will also result in additional arrests," Cobb said.

Charges for those arrested range from Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute to Distribution of Schedule III CDS, including Ecstasy, Cocaine, Methamphetamines, Marijuuana and prescription drugs.

Baskin:
Connie Graham, 56, P.O. Box 384, Baskin—distribution of Schedule III CDS ($25,000 Bond - Bonded out);

Darrell Legros, 55, 1630 Hwy. 15 Lot 3, Baskin—distribution of a Schedule IV CDS ($15,000 Bond-Bonded out);

Walter McDaniel, 52, P.O. Box 464, Baskin—distribution of a Schedule III CDS ($15,000 Bond- Bonded out).

Winnsboro:
Artrea Plater, 30, 153 Hawsey Rd., Winnsboro—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($50,000 Bond);

Jammario Price, 19, 1221 Maple St., Winnsboro—possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute ($50,000 Bond);

Darron Ross, 30, 1714 Gum St., Winnsboro—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($25,000 Bond);

Beverly Hicks, 48, 1302 Gum St., Winnsboro—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($25,000 Bond);

Paul Merrels, 50, 2502 Roland St., Winnsboro—distribution of a Schedule III CDS ($25,000 Bond).

Wisner:
Richard Burton, 23, 148 134 Kansas St., Wisner—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($25,000 Bond);

Darred Criff, 31, 723 Topeka St., Wisner—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($75,000 Bond);

James Brown, distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($25,000 Bond);

Rayshawn Williams, 25, 123 Kansas St., Wisner—distribution of a Schedule II CDS ($25,000 Bond);
