Melvin Duain 'Red' Byrd
Funeral services for Melvin Duain "Red" Byrd, 69, of Bronson, Texas, formerly of Gilbert, were held at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, with Rev. Ron Ferrington officiating. Interment followed at Newton Cemetery under the direction of Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mr. Byrd was born May 16, 1939 in Delhi, and passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at his residence in Bronson. He was a heavy equipment operator working for many companies including Thornhill's Sweet Potato Farm in Wisner. He loved to fish, to dance, and enjoyed life and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Reynolds) Byrd; father, Issac C. Byrd; mother, Ruby Jewel (Bryant) Byrd.
Survivors include his son, Keith Byrd and wife Kelley of Groves, Texas;
granddaughter, Debra Hooper of Virginia Beach, Va.
Pallbearers were Billy Eley, Alvie Vick, Bud McFarland, Jeff Eley, Aaron Posey and Terry Sikes.

George Campbell
Funeral services for George Campbell, 68, of Winnsboro will be held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Campbell died Wednesday, Feb., 25, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
Survivors include two sons: Robert Campbell and George Campbell III; daughters: Patricia Anderson, Marilyn Lou Ignot, Betty Campbell, Linda Brown, Georgia Campbell, Teresa Nelson, and Rosie Campbell; 43 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Shaw, George Heckard, Robert Scott Jr., Leroy Campbell, Paul Myles, Fred Campbell, Phil Anderson, and Dwight Hayes.

Paatsy Chisholm Martinez
Patsy Chisholm Martinez, 69, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Feb. 16, 2009, after a short illness.
Mrs. Martinez lived in Wisner from the age of three, until she graduated from Wisner High School in 1957. After graduation she moved to Baton Rouge, where she spent the rest of her life, except for the last few months when she moved to Montgomery.
Mrs. Martinez was preceded in death by her father, Howard N. Chisholm Sr.; mother, Bell Bowman Chisholm; brothers: Gearld Lewis Chisholm and Howard Nolan Chisholm Jr.; and sister, Marjorie Catherine Allbritton.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Martinez; daughter, Pamela Martinez; son, Stacy Smith, all of Montgomery, Texas; three grandsons, whom she loved very much; four sisters and two brothers; 16 nieces and nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial was held at her son's church in Montgomery on Thursday, Feb. 19.
A memorial service for friends and family in Wisner, will be held at a later date.

Alice Ruth Muckelrath
A graveside service for Alice Ruth Muckelrath, 89, of New Orleans was held Friday, Feb. 27 at New Winnsboro Cemetery with Father Dwight Jesus officiating under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Mrs. Muckelrath was born to the union of her parents Henry and Dora Allman Combs on June 28, 1919 in Gulfport, Miss., and passed from this life on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009 at Hickory Manor Nursing Home in Bastrop. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband: Thelman Muckelrath.
She is survived by her cousin Sue Thompson of Columbus, Ga., and by a host of nieces and nephews of the Muckelrath, Sisk, and Carter families.

Elder Louis Washington
Funeral services for Elder Louis Washington, 77, of Winnsboro were held Saturday at Augusta Baptist Church. Burial followed at Cuba Cemetery under the direction of Richardson Funeral Home, Winnsboro.
Mr. Washington died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at Plantation Manor Rehab. Center.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Bell Washington, Winnsboro; sons: Gregory Washington, Dallas, Texas; Ricky Washington, Winnsboro; daughters: Betty Hughes, Lilven Blaylock and Valerie Washington, all of Dallas, Texas; Beverly Washington, Carrolton, Texas; Jannest Doucette, Mesquite, Texas; Stephanie Clemons, Grand Prairie, Texas; Cheryl Carlton, Hopkinsville, Ky.; Nina Benjamin, Indianapolis, Ind.; Bertha Swearington, Houston, Texas; Sharon Grant, Lewisville, Texas; sisters: Margie Lynch and Jean Hamilton, Buffalo, NY; Josie Mae Lee, Las Vegas, Nev.; 44 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Marvica Wiley, Larry Wiley, Anthony Webb, LaKennien Thomas, Terrance Webb, Adrian Doucette, Chris Kirk, and Dameian Webb.

Katherine Williams
A memorial service for Katherine Williams, 82, of New Orleans was held Friday at Liberty Christian Center, Southeast, Winnsboro. Burial follow at Williams Cemetery in New Hebron.
Ms. Williams, a seamstress, was formerly of Winnsboro.
