Story Archives: School upgrade costs estimated

School upgrade costs estimated
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Preliminary estimates for renovation projects at two parish schools were presented during a special meeting of the Franklin Parish School Board last Thursday.

Following campus inspections, Tony Littleton of TB Architecture updated board members with expected costs associated with the renovations at Gilbert and Fort Necessity schools.

"Because of the close proximity of these two schools," said Littleton, "it will save the board money to bid them together."

Renovation projects at both campuses will include asbestos removal, new floors and ceilings, electrical upgrades to classrooms and fresh paint throughout. Early estimates for both campuses total some $2.4 million.

"These plans are in the early stages," said Littleton, "They can be adjusted and re-budgeted for priority upgrades, we just needed to have an idea of what we will be working with."

Estimates for renovations for Baskin and Crowville schools will be presented at a later date.
All projects are scheduled to begin when schools recesses for the summer.
