Varnado-Ward engagement
 Rebecca and James Gray of Baskin and Debra and James Varnado of Gilbert announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Amber Dionne Varnado, to Joseph Patrick Ward of Swampers. He is the son of the Rev. Leon and Lynette Ward.
The bride-elect is the maternal granddaughter of Marverette Welch of Baskin. She is the paternal granddaughter of Nelda Morse of Crowville.
The prospective groom is the maternal grandson of Ray Strickland and Hellen Strickland. He is the paternal grandson of Dale Ward and Dorothy Ward of Ward III.
Amber is a graduate of Crowville High School.
Joseph is a graduate of Ward III High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He is currently employed as a corrections officer.
The wedding is set for twelve noon on February 28, 2009, at Sardis Baptist Church. The groom's father will officiate the ceremony.
