Rotary Club to host Family Week Celebration The Winnsboro Rotary Club is hosting its first-ever Franklin Parish Family Week Celebration, a community service project that has the potential to impact the entire Winnsboro/Franklin Parish area. The week-long celebration will be held March 16-22, 2009. The program was created to strengthen families and encourage parents to "Put Family First."
Different events will be held each day during the week, such as
*An art contest for 3rd and 4th graders – Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners for artwork which best expresses the students' feelings about putting family first, the family having fun together, a family vacation, or similar family activity.
*Franklin Parish's "Longest Married Couple" and "Family of the Year" contests –Winners of both contests will be recognized during an awards ceremony at the Family Fun Festival and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 21, at First Baptist Church in Winnsboro.
*Family Night Out – Local restaurants will be providing specials and discounts for families dining together on Family Night on Thursday, March 19th. Special family rates will be available throughout the community.
*Family Fun Festival – Everyone is invited to join in a celebration of family fun at First Baptist Church in Winnsboro on Saturday, March 21 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. There will be lots of games, food, a magic show, family olympics, awards, and booths set up to provide valuable information about family health awareness, safety, and much more.
*Sacred Music Festival – Everyone is invited to the River of Life Church in Winnsboro on Sunday, March 22, at 6:00 p.m. for an evening of singing, worship, and praise featuring The River of Life Praise Band and Band of Brothers.
"I believe the Family Week Celebration will affect our entire community in a very positive way," claims Ginger Boutwell, President of the Winnsboro Rotary Club. "Strong families make healthy communities." |
